If the law of the Australia allows her to choose whether to wear the face mask or not, then its her choice is't it?

The law in Victoria changed this week. Masks are now mandatory with $200 fines. They are in the middle of a second wave. She’s a crazy lady.

I just read everyone’s responses after my post. This lady is being obtuse and is definitely breaking the law.  I thought it was incredulous that she thinks her rights “as a living woman” would be her main focus during this second wave. Thought you would all get the joke.

But it seems this conversation has gone really on a weird tangent. Here’s a bit more info about this story from the Victorian government website.  Don’t stick up for crazy defiant people and their so-called rights.

Every country has different laws and different pandemic situation. Apparently, in Australia law does not require of everyone to wear the face masks. Therefore one may feel he is forced when someone demands for mask.

If wearing a mask is not compulsory, nobody can force you to wear it on the street or in an official building. But a shop is a private property, and it can impose its own rules.

For example, people here are allowed to smoke in the street, but I can decide that nobody will enter my home smoking. My house, my rules. A shop is the same thing. Some shops don't allow people in without a shirt or without shoes, even though there is no law saying that. It's a private property.

You have a good point when you point to the difference with Christians. People in the world insist on their rights, even if those rights put themselves and others at risk of death. In contrast, Christians are happy to yield their rights if that can avoid a danger for others.

the woman in the video as being self centered, demanding her "rights". She has the right to do as she wishes in private but in public, with the current circumstances, she needs to obey the requirements of any public space.

Maybe she is a "Karen"! 😦

Canada does Not have a law, nor does the province of Ontario, however masks are Highly recommended.

The Premier of Ontario stated "A business has the Right to refuse service and even prevent people from entering their store."

One grocery store down the street from me has had a security guard outside for quite awhile to enforce store policy,

which was social distancing, limited number in store, cleaned carts, etc ( 3 - 4 months, only switched to an employee past couple of weeks, and mandatory masks for 9 days ago).

The city only enacted a bylaw last Tuesday 6 days ago.

There was an incident a couple of weeks ago in Minden, ON - a small community. Man refused to wear a mask ( store policy ) and attacked an employee. Ran out of store, threatened an old man with death, roared out of parking lot almost hitting some people. Later traced by police there was an altercation and Both police officers shot him dead.  All over his refusal to wear a mask.  Similar happened in State of Michigan similar time frame.  Mask refuser also ended up dead - he had a knife which he had stabbed an old man with. Came at police ( a female officer I think later stories mentioned ) and was shot. Again all over a mask.

Sorry this went sideways on you sis, I guess I didn't understand which perspective it needed to be viewed from.

Discriminating against her as a woman! Wasn't it also interesting that she was deliberately filming, like she had an agenda, as most do who demonstrate 'to make their voice heard, create a scene'.

BTW, did she get escorted out? It looked like she did, but she conveniently didn't record THAT!

Sis. Lucy,

I understand, the law has changed in Australia and now wearing the face mask is compulsory. The Australian law also states that if anyone has a lawful reason for not wearing a mask will be ok to do so. The lady in the video who insisted her right may have a lawful reason for not doing so.

Like in the UK. It is compulsory to wear the mask when you are out in public transport or in shops but if you have an asthma for instance, you are absolutely fine not to wear the face mask even in the private shops :) and no one has right [by law] to force you to wear the mask.

I finally looked at article - it called her a "Karen" in link to article. She and someone else only wanted to "stroll" to prove her point - which it turns out was wrong. 'nough said on this Karen.

I saw a Karen in action a few weeks ago and was Not impressed.

Just to clarify, the law has changed in Victoria, not all of Australia. She did not have a medical exemption. She deliberately did not wear a mask and she went in filming. Her defence was discrimination because she was a “live woman”.

This is truly an absurd situation. It was a blatant manifestation of selfish disregard for others and willingly going against the law to do it. It was publicly mentioned by the premier of the state who is imploring people to do the right thing as cases and deaths are still surging.

So unless you have an exemption, you must wear a mask in Victoria. No need for anything more to discuss on that, as it’s just that.

I expect similar things are happening here in some states. In some cases it’s just selfish people being selfish for arguments sake.  In some cases it will be a legal maneuver to test some constitutional challenge. In any case it will have motives we do not share. Jehovah be praised.

Just look at the fallout from this Karen. All agree, from legal experts to Federal and state ministers and company CEOs, that what she’s done is illegal.

Associate Professor Beck said there had been a rise in people around the world using pseudo-legal terms to make arguments around human rights since the pandemic began, which he described as “nuttiness”.

“There’s no right to disobey the law and there’s no right to harm other people’s health," he said.

A later video showed her refusing to be arrested by a Victoria Police officer.

The woman, who has been approached for comment, posted her video in a private Facebook group called 'The Conscious Truth Network', which describes itself as a “group for conscious and critical thinkers” and “people who are curious enough to question authority”.

Which is why I posted this story in the first place. This world is nuts.

Im just wondering if covid19 is really dangerous. What if the media is just over reacting. ...

This disease can cause death especially if someone has comorbidity (accompanying diseases) such as high blood pressure, lung disease, or diabetes.

That's why the death percentage of elderly who are infected with covid is quite high.

Because their lacking of immune system, accompanied by various comorbidity that are very common in old age.

Plus, since covid vaccines that being developed in many countries are aimed at ages 18 to 60, they are less likely to get benefit from the vaccines suppose that if it already available.
