The Mysterious Coronavirus Spreading Worldwide

In some older LDC /rbc training it was said to me by branch trainers:

I attended several training classes last year and I was amazed at how much focus there is on safety. I use to work in a dangerous industry and regularly attended safety meetings. I thought I knew a little about safety, however the first safety training class I attended from the branch covered everything that I knew in 10 minutes and it was a 4 hour class.

The brothers really help us to understand Jehovah's view of personal safety.

I think that sometimes love is a two edge sword. Out of love, the brothers won't make rules for us, but out of love they probably want to make rules..😁

Sorry Dawn, I can't give you a blanket one-size fits all answer because there isn't a blanket one-size fits all answer.

And I wasn’t looking for one of those. 😊. I was curious at the topic because two of you mentioned your grandchildren. It made me wonder how different people are adapting to the guidelines and what is going on with them and their area. I do think it is a changing thing.

We have a couple in the hall who recently had a baby. They took precautions but other family members did come to visit and meet the baby. Others I know won’t leave their house. While we are supposed to remain vigilant and follow guidelines, it does seem possible that some are dogmatic in their views to what that means. It is interesting to get different viewpoints.

Saying someone isn’t being obedient because of a different decision on what the guidelines mean doesn’t seem to follow the guidelines either. Ie family heads must make the decision

Please do not misinterpret my question to mean that I think we shouldn’t follow guidelines or that I am arguing with anyone’s thoughts. 😊

My wife and I don't have any reason to leave the house, so we stay home except when I pick up our weekly groceries curbside. I don't know what anyone else in our congregation is doing.

It's different for everyone.  My mother-in-law, the baby's great-grandmother, will not go to visit the baby.  However, we can bring the baby to visit her.

Some are taking extreme precautions and have not seen their families in person since March.  In our case, the baby needs child care because her parents both work nights.  The baby will need to be exposed to someone.  Either family should help watch the child, friends from the Kingdom Hall, or worldly child care.  We don't really want the third option and the baby's parents would rather family, especially since we're watching her from like 7pm to 7am.  It's a matter of being practical and flexible in this case.  We're not watching our grandchild simply to flaunt rules or get together in opposition to safety precautions.  We're not just visiting and socializing.

Had she been old enough to care for herself, the situation would be different.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

my wife and I are staying home. food is ordered online, or a sister brings some shopping to our door.  This has been the situation since March.

Now London is moving to “tier 2” of the alerts!   [there is no low tier - the lowest is medium!  go figure! then there is high and tier 3 is very high.] No mixing of households indoors.

Probably at least another six months like this - then we die!

I definitely see the red flags coming back on everything. We’ve moved from phase 1 to phase 3 in our state. However, it looks like numbers are going up everywhere as we move into fall. Depending on how the election goes in our state will probably depend on whether we go back into a stricter phase.

We've done some hiking as a family, once with another family. We’ve had a couple of bonfire meals with others (everyone brings their own food). I work outside the home. So does one of my sons. My husband works from home. others go kayaking to get out and about. Some have gone to the beach for a family trip (not staying with others). I don’t consider it flaunting rules but evaluating our circumstances and that of who and where we will be. If others choose not to do the same things we do, that’s ok too. 😊

I’m glad to have seen a few faces over the summer. I’m afraid this winter will be long and difficult. I hope all the friends and children are able to deal ok with the isolation in the cold that is coming. 😢

. 😊

Things are going the wrong direction here in Ohio as well.

@BLEmom  I live alone. I'm not working right now but if I was, it would be from home. I guess I don't have any "pressing" reasons to leave my apartment- simply mental health reasons. 😊 I've purchased groceries in-store a bit more than ordered them online and for me, it's a great excuse to put on makeup and go outside, see other humans, and smile at them. I also order lunch or dinner from a delivery service at times. I love to drive... so, I do. Over the beautiful countryside, vineyards, music blasting, wind in my hair! 😎

I'm ecstatic that my son is reinstated and fortunate that he lives about 275 paces from me. I have seen him a lot this summer. We have eaten at restaurants occasionally- indoors and out- and feel okay about it. We have driven to the sea and walked on the beach all day- very socially distanced from others. We don't wear masks around each other; he's had two covid tests and is negative.

He's recovering from two spinal surgeries- one last month, the other this past Friday. I took him to the med facility, brought him home and stayed over his place three nights each.. that was fun!  🥰  Our congregation has been amazing at setting up a dinner rotation and bringing meals for Adam- it's been fantastic to see them in person.

It's been a decent summer for me, all things considered. I'm hoping Adam feels well enough to go for a walk in Laurelhurst Park in Portland tomorrow- it is beautiful. 🍁🍂🍂🍁🍃 One hug "violation" - one of my best friends was reinstated in August after over a year. After a midweek meeting a couple of weeks ago, she was on her way hone from somewhere and stopped to bring me an ice cream. I was just going to take it quick... but I just had to embrace her! 🥰🤗  It was SOOO nice and good to see her.. I think we're okay, tho.

Each family works out it's own situation, I think, using soundness of mind and discretion. May Jehovah bless and keep us all 😘

Catholics, Jews, say New York coronavirus restrictions violate religious rights

https://news.trust.org/item/20201015161037-jj3l4/

By Peter Szekely

NEW YORK, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Catholics and Jews asked U.S. courts on

Thursday to overturn New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's order limiting worship

to no more than 10 congregants in communities hard hit by the coronavirus, calling

the measure a threat to religious freedom.

At a three-and-half-hour hearing, U.S. District Court Judge Nicholas Garaufis said

he hoped to rule by Friday on a request by Brooklyn's Roman Catholic diocese for

a preliminary injunction voiding the restrictions. In a 33-page complaint, laced with historical

references to persecution, three Orthodox Jewish congregations told a U.S. District Court in Manhattan t

hat Cuomo had outlawed "all but the most minimal communal religious worship."

I'm sure the restrictions have affected how much money is being contributed. The pandemic is probably affecting how much money is being contributed to WHQ but instead of sueing the government, the GB has arranged for a part on the MWM next month and a letter thanking everyone for their contribution. What a contrast!

We Just Got More Evidence Your Blood Type May Change COVID-19 Risk And Severity
AYLIN WOODWARD, BUSINESS INSIDER

Stay vigilant regardless....

Research is coalescing around the idea that people with Type O blood may have a slight advantage during this pandemic.

Two studies published this week suggest that people with Type O have a lower risk of getting the coronavirus, as well as a reduced likelihood of getting severely sick if they do get infected....

I don't think there will be much potential comfort from these findings, how many JWs have reason to know their blood type. More likely a few sisters will know due to blood typing during pregnancy. Some wwho have been in the military may remember their blood type. Beyond the fact that my blood is of the red type I know nothing else, having refused use of blood through two surgeries there has been no reason to type me beyond the tall dark and handsome type (I failed).

Just one point here (about the article).

I am not sure why people are losing their minds (not you, brother) over this. The fact is, each state has its own authority over its covid response. Not the Federal Government.

So even if the Federal Government wants to pursue "herd immunity", the States themselves can reject that proposal. In fact, some states didn't follow the "15 days to slow the spread" doctrine from the Federal Government in the late Spring/early summer before reopening.

So I am not really concerned about this at all.

my wife told me mine ...she remembers... that I'm B+

I'm sure if we had a blood test one's PCP (Primary Care Physician) or hospital EMR (Electronic Medical Record) has it on file and if you really need to know just ask Google....it knows everything about us, too, why not blood type

I used to know mine back in high school.  We had a blood typing lesson in biology class.  Sadly, I can't remember now.

Greetings London!!

I am hoping to get from Paris to London for the holidays (Christmas) to see my family but I said to my mother there is a chance the borders will close or quarantine rule will make it impossible.  I will try though,  as I think that will be the last chance of free movement in  Europe until  Armageddon ( free as in without a Codiv Passport).
