The situation in Australia is different than in the US and UK and Europe, where the pandemic has not been controlled. As I’ve mentioned before, Australia (and New Zealand) have eliminated community transmission. New covid cases are only coming from returning nationals, and the quarantining system being breached. This is what happened in Victoria and is now happening in Sydney. At the moment the NSW government is urgently trying to contact trace and test over a quarter of a million people affected in the Northern beaches area of Sydney. If it spreads past the current 83 cases (up another 15 from yesterday), then it will grow exponentially and be beyond the grasp of contact tracers. So it’s a very anxious time right now in NSW.

 

"We know for a fact that there will be people who will get infected on Christmas Day who will be at their peak of infectiousness on New Year's Eve ... the mother of all super-spreading events," Prof MacIntyre told SBS News.

"Say we have 40 new cases tomorrow - unchecked, that will be 120 new cases on Christmas Day, 360 new cases on New Year's Eve and over 1,000 new cases by the first week of January."

This is very true. The authorities do not hesitate to lie in order to keep the population calm.

 

On the other hand, in this specific case I think there are good reasons to be optimistic. This vaccine attacks a specific protein in the virus. Even if it has mutated, as long as that protein is still there the vaccine should work.

Hmm....IMHO, let's see if there will be the call by the FDS to help one another by pooling resources....happened in first century......we don't want be like Ananias and Sapphira. Also there have been talks that highlight having unrighteous riches til the very end that was not put to good use....

According to public data from the Arizona Department of Health Services, December has already recorded 106,915 cases. In November, there were 102,837 cases, which was the previous record.

Yeah i just read a report that the new rapidly spreading variant in the UK has a mutation in this particular spike protein.  And scientists are not sure the vaccine will work...
