 Eight care home workers in Germany were accidentally injected with five doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, local authorities said Monday—but are suffering no serious ill effects so far.

The seven women and one man, aged between 38 and 54, are employees of a retirement home in the town of Stralsund in northeastern Germany.

They are therefore in a priority group and among the first to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which Germany began rolling out at the weekend.

But as they were being inoculated on Sunday, they were each injected with five doses at once, according to Stefan Kerth, the administrator of the district where the facility is located.

 

That's one way of reducing the available doses!

Having the AstraZeneca vaccine should speed up the vaccination program. There really is panic here over the numbers going into hospital with covid-19, no wonder the government wants to vaccinate as many as possible, quickly.

You can see the panic , I live opposite a large hospital that at the weekend was 115% full of Covid patients , I had to go there Sunday evening to try and get some information for a sister about her husband who had been admitted and couldn't believe the air ambulances landing, ambulances delivering patients . There was security Guards on the door and from the outside of A&E I could see clearly very unwell people laying on the floor and in corridors.

 

It felt like a scene from a disaster movie .

 

Its no surprised that the vaccine program is being rushed ahead , I don't imagine the hospitals and staff can go on like this.

Quick update:

 

Twenty-Four hours after the shot, I feel perfectly fine, but there is soreness at the injection site. I take the second dose on mid-January. Since it takes 10-14 days to produce enough antibodies, I'd say maximum protection from Covid should be achieved by early Feb.

My mum has been invited to have the vaccine beginning of Jan with the second dose end of Jan. 

She has the flu jab every year as she’s 85 and has diabetes and some other health issues so I hope this protects her. 
I don’t know which of the three vaccines it will be though....

Quick update: Fifty-three hours after the first dose of the Moderna Covid vaccine, I’m great. Temperature is the same. No side-effects. Soreness almost gone on my left arm.

That's the Russian vaccine.  Most of us here won't be receiving that particular vaccine formula.

I can understand the logic behind this.

 

 

The projected numbers are not logging up.  With only 1/2  a million in 3 weeks, there is no way they will have 25 million by "late spring".  The government will either have to recuit and train numbers of civilians to meet their quota or (as the article says) get the army to start giving people the jabs.  Or mostly likely both.
