My family and I were in the Sylmar earthquake in 1971. Thankfully, we weren’t at the epicenter. Have been through a lot of tremors, too. They’re just something you learn to live with.

I remember that one.

We call California "Shake and Bake" because of the earthquakes and fires..

I thought it was about 6 or 7 in the morning. I woke up and thought the ceiling was moving back and forth, but it was my bed!

Kinda the same for us.

I was in the top bunk so it was a bit more exaggerated for me.

At first I thought 'someone' was kicking my mattress but that passed quickly. I recall jumping out and being a bit shook up.....and a little scared too.....

I have a local tsunami warning where i am at. just above San Fran.... historically it shouldn't reach us. even if it does. the last time there was a tsunami from this region and strength i guess they called it a 3 feet up well.

just got an alert its safe to return home....  why they be so dramatic.   8D.

Because they are not always what they expect or forecast.

I felt the earthquake. Some may say, “much ado about…”

Traffic lights were effected in Eureka, and there was a bit of a pile up on Somoa Bridge, with people leaving the peninsula, which was in the area that needed to be evacuated.

I don’t know how many vehicles were involved.
Thing is, we are on the tail end of the Cascadia Fault. There have been major earthquakes, historically, that actually changed the topography of the coast. That Fault has a big one about every three hundred years. And, it is past due.
This tsunami warning  could have been a dry run for a really major earthquake. And a real tsunami, with major damage.
People tend to loose contact with the reality of past events as time goes on.
I will be so thankful to say good-bye to this system.
People died because of a tsunami just up the coast, about 7O miles from here. Crescent City. And, it was because of an earthquake in Alaska. Not that long ago.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

The earthquakes hitting Japan have been stronger.  These were 7 and below.

Where i am its like 300 or more miles and thetes no straight path of energy it side swipes land.  And here yhere are hills. It would have to go thru a narrow channel called the Temallas bay.

I could see beach dwellers to be cautious but not island.

From what I have heard about the Cascadia fault line, if that thing ever gets started, it will be very serious.

I used to enjoy the 'Eureka' TV show. But I love Science Fiction.
