profession in new world!

Recommended Posts

At first I'd like to be an Engineer.  We are going to need several to help with dismantling and rebuilding.  Then there will be a need for civil engineers to help with the foundations and structural issues of all the new houses. That should be interesting... working with a skilled team of designers and architects. I'm really looking forward to whats to come.

Quote

Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines because it deals with constructed environment[1] including planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

I think I would really like to be able to develop my ministry skills. All my spiritual life there have been very few people I have had the privilege of helping through a bible study, and I think, with new scrolls added to what we already have, there will be some tremendous new opportunities.

Apart from that - I will rewatch "Groundhog Day", because  it would be great to learn not just a skill but the mastery of it.

Since I am a skater, I will be looking at having my own skating rink, ice & roller. How will I build the skates? Don't know. I have always wanted to own a skating rink and run it. The problem in the world we live in, to be successful you would have to have many features which would conflict with God's view.

The last skating party I had, the owners said the group was the best, most well behaved group they had ever had. I knew the owners as they were my skating coaches since I was young. I picked out all the music, got to be the DJ, brought prizes to giveaway. I was not planning on having a couples skate, but a married couple who met at a similar skating party asked if we could have one.

We had a limited attendance and still paid for the use of the rink, we actually went over. The owner wanted to give me the difference as a refund. I said how about an extra half hour for skating, we struck a deal.

The great thing about a skating rink, especially a wooden one, it can be used for many purposes. I suppose I could even use it for pickleball! That would be my dream job, running and maintaining a skating rink.

I really love the sky. At the age of 16 (first jump in August 1987) I started parachuting, but it didn’t work out and I joined the army. Made 61 jumps (including in 13 in the Army). I want to explore the sky and space with my flying machine.

I want to be a traveling photojournalist, a la Rick Steves/Anthony Bourdain. I want to travel (land, sea, and air), meet people, eat their food, and take pictures/videos to send to those who are home with their vines, fig trees, and 25 kids. :D

Ideally, that would be my assignment from whatever Governing Body is in place at the time.  I think I could provide valuable info and research for the re-creation through that sort of work.  Or, in the same vein, I'd love to be in some sort of administrative work to help organize things - resurrection connections, Bible study assignments, where folks will live. I think that would be a blast. Assist you engineers! 😉

I'm not interested in really settling down and as a single person, I can finally use the single life for something other than struggling from one paycheck/bill to the next and hoping I don't need something I need help for.  😕

I would love to be an engineer and help design, build and maintain the infrastructure for a community.

I'll be happy to do whatever I'm told to do. It'll be fun work. I've spent so much time in this world trying to find my space in something that I'm good at truly that I've given up. The only thing I'm good at in this world is serving Jehovah. I'll find out what I can really do in the new world. As long as it's not IT but if Jehovah says so. I'll do it. But I hate IT with a passion right now. I hate technology with a passion. This is 25 years in the making too.

Like if I have to take care of newborn babies in the new world. I don't care I'll do it. Just please no IT. 🤣

I look forward to working with Jerry.

My experience is construction some heavy some high rise. The best projects were when we had an in-house engineer and we all worked together. They did the math and I poured the concrete.

Last project I was on was the Puyallup Assembly Hall. That had the best pay rate.

Since one does not wear headsets when jumping out of aircraft is it safe to assume I am looking at a fellow pilot? I have only known a handfull of jws that were pilots.

Will we make use of airplanes in the new system?

I hope so. I will need a pilot to get to many of my photojournalist assignments. 😉

I also would CRAVE to be involved in any music productions that are going on.  If I could be in a choir or theatre group, my life would be complete. ❤️

There are many things I would like to do. Music, computers, traveling, ... the list goes on.

However, the title asks about "profession"

  • a paid occupation, especially one that involves prolonged training and a formal qualification

Since I do not think we will have a monetary system, I don't want a "profession"

OH, and I would LOVE to teach as well! especially any kind of math. I can imagine teaching modern day Calculus to the people who helped invent it. That would be incredible!

I will be an adventurer of the New World, I want to go everywhere and be trained in almost all areas, everything fascinates me. If I have to talk about a particular activity that Jehovah allows me to have, on a secular level: I will probably be a writer, I will also be a specialist in the preparation of the best coffees and in the making of bread, and I will travel in the space to seek inspiration.

A synonym for profession is also "job".  We will all have jobs, work to do.  And some will be "professionals" or expert at those jobs, probably teachers - masters with journeyman and apprentices.

Perhaps vocation vs. avocation?  I don't know.  I do know that you don't need to be paid in money to have a job, that's for sure.

Well,  that's an interesting topic of its own. Money is a simple way to transport and trade things that are of value - including time. I personally believe we will have some simple method of money that assists with bartering. No need to worry about counterfeiting and with everyone being honest... it's a great tool.

There are several books written by brothers that include the idea of money in the new world.  I'll leave that topic for there OR maybe we could start a new thread.

In fact, I bet someone here might even enjoy accounting or banking.

I know Jehovah will fill your hearts desires but I SEE YOU with traveling companion. Yes, husband if you will. Because I know you would make a perfect partner for some unsuspecting, fortunate man.
