Ok, I just finished reading it (I feel like the Yearbooks are getting shorter and shorter every year...I don't know if that is true, but they used to feel longer!) I love it, I enjoyed seeing what our Indonesian brothers went through. But that very first experience mentioned in the letter from the Governing Body is my favorite, I think :)

Wow, talk about ^speed^ reading!

a brighter light chronology also   ...   http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/2016-yearbook/highlights/jehovahs-witnesses-beliefs-clarified/

I didn't remember this one:

[box on page 17]

WHO MAKE UP “ALL THESE KINGDOMS”?

The prophecy at Daniel 2:44 states that God’s Kingdom “will crush and put an end to allthese kingdoms.” That prophecy refers only to the kingdoms pictured by the various parts of the image.

What about all other human governments? The parallel prophecy in Revelation reveals the larger picture. It shows that “the kings of the entire inhabited earth” will be gathered against Jehovah on “the great day of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 16:14; 19:19-21) Hence, not only the kingdoms of the image but also all other human governments will be destroyed at Armageddon.

What do people make about the headline statistics?

I was very surprised we did not break 20 million for the Memorial and I am not sure I've come across a time when hours have gone down.  On top of that baptisms and aux pioneers down.  Reg pioneers up (perhaps they all came from the aux numbers  :) ) on the other hand.

Is this simply the ebb and flow of numbers?  Is it just the hardship of the times or should we be worried about a deeper problem?

I feel like it might be because we didn't have a campaign last service year. In the 2014 service year, we had the campaign with the jw.org tract. A lot of people auxiliary pioneered that month or spent more time in the ministry. Since we didn't have a campaign last year, less people auxiliary pioneered and that affected the number of auxiliary pioneers as well as the hours.

We had a really phenomenal year numbers-wise last year. We definitely won't duplicate that every year. If you average the two years together, we're on par with previous years.

The average number of publishers is right on with what we should've seen. So, I think, all in all, they're not as good as last year's but no need to worry or panic.

Memorial attendance went down between the yearbook reports of  2012 and 2013 (-362,000) and the highest year for baptism was the 2011 number reported in the 2012 yearbook at 294,368 (the best year since then was 2014 (-20,000).

I am now up to page 160.  Had to give my brain a rest.   Trying to read all

those hard to pronounce names of people and places is hard on the old grey cells.  ^_^

Would prob'ly be finished by now, but our congregation had a get together this

afternoon.  The young ones put on a short play of what it will be like to meet their

favorite Bible characters in the Resurrection.  They played their favorite Bible characters,

complete with costumes and scenery.  It was a SLENDID way to spend the day. ^_^

This is a good point to remember. In actual fact, during the 2014 service year (September 2013-August 2014), we had TWO campaigns - one in November 2013 with Kingdom News No. 38, and then the jw.org tract in August 2014.

Well I finished reading the new yearbòk this morning, in record time as I read very fast. Feeling rather proud of myself,I then went to the meeting. I noted that the watchtower said we should read it in small portions and meditate on it. Ah well, I guess iI will start again.

Good to see the 30 other lands had a 7.3% increase....

Large country with the most significant decrease was Ukraine...obviously affected by the civil war..Also both the Congo countries had a 2% decrease.

I,m not sure this is a good thing, as it could mean 7.5 % more brothers now cannot report directly, not that there are more brothers in these lands.
