Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

All of my devices, two Android, 2 windows 10, two Ipads all had another update in the last 20 hours.  If you have not installed that JW Library update, perhaps this would help.

 

EDIT: I have had 3 updates to the Library in the last week.

Is the iOS version still on 11.0.1 for you? I’m still getting the few seconds delay on opening. iOS 12.2 didn’t help.

Br. Chris...My recent updated Library apps have these version numbers:

 

Windows 10 - 11.0.32944.0 (38848)

Android         - 11.0 (38822)

IOS 12.2)      - 11.0.1

 

As to the opening delay, the IOS is about twice as slow as the other two operating systems.  Windows and Android take about 3 seconds but IOS takes about 6 seconds.

That's why Android is the superior operating system.

I'm having the same problem since the last update, and many other friends I know. I guess it's a bug that will be corrected in a future update.

Br. Carlos, I just tried it on my Windows 10 unit and the same video that Br. Manfred showed downloaded just fine.

Windows works. It is an Android problem.

It must not be all Android.  I just tried it on my Android phone (Android 6.0) and that same video downloaded quickly.

But it's not an issue with a particular video. I have a couple videos and several other publications marked as "pending update" no matter how many times I download them, or if I delete and download them again. I don't think the version I have is old, I think it's just a bug in the software.

Found a work around. For video in this week's midweek about Jesus - go to MEDIA/VIDEOS and click on cloud download button - choose resolution.

Worked fine on my one tablet. Tried update method - but it locked up on other tablet.  Will stop downloads and try media/video way on other tablet.

On other tablet - it kept going ( lines going across - not progressing ) hit cancel -it brought up resolution box again - chose one wanted- it worked.

 

Recommend one download at a time - just to make sure.

I have noticed a lag on the app opening and coming up. Also when I scroll and when I press for content.

I have IPad Air 2 128gb.

with latest update I have to wait around 18 seconds every time I go into the app before it responds to touch.

i deleted the app (forgot to back up my notes ☹️) and the problem disappeared.

then spent a few hours downloading all the videos and now have a delay again.

so it seems to me that the problem is caused by downloading too many videos.

The updates shows more thumbnails,  so I wonder if that contributes to the delay. 

 

My new wishlist item.

Have an option to show just title text without thumbnails.

I think it is an Apple problem.  I have the same (or similar) material downloaded in all 3 main OS.  There is no significant delay with Windows 10 (tablet or PC).  My Android devices are about the same (3-4 seconds).  But all of my Ipads (Ipad Air 2, Ipad mini and 2 Ipad Pros) all have inherited this 15 second delay recently.  I have updated all of them to IOS 12.2 and it didn't help.  Just as slow as IOS 12.1.4.  I think is is the Apple devices with the problem.

Both of my two Windows 10 devices (one tablet and one PC) just updated the JW Library app. tonight.  

 

It shows the new version number of:    11.1.65 (39193)
