The Mysterious Coronavirus Spreading Worldwide

Have you had a chance to get her tested for the antibodies?

No, we may do so eventually. But we are reasonably certain that my wife and myself have both had it also. We both also had respiratory problems about the same time with fatigue. Me sister in our congregation appears to have had it about the same time although she tested (-) due to poor sample technique. Interestingly ( she adopted wearing a home made mask very early as a precaution to visit her father in hospital) this was before any of us suspected anything. This simple almost inspired precaution probably saved a few people in my congregation.

Looks like it’s definite now. Our CO visit will be ZOOMED. Visit is June 2 thru June  7.

Govenor of Michigan extended the “Safer at Home” order till June 12.

LANSING, Mich. (Press Release) - Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-100 to extend Michigan’s Safer at Home order until June 12, 2020. The governor’s order also protects Michiganders from the spread of COVID-19 by extending the temporary closure of certain places of public accommodation such as theaters, gyms, and casinos.

The governor also signed Executive Order 2020-99 to extend the state of emergency declaration related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was upheld by Judge Cynthia Stephens on May 21, 2020. Since COVID-19 was first discovered in Michigan, Governor Whitmer has taken swift action to protect Michigan families and workers. The governor’s aggressive measures are working, but there is still more to be done. For instance, cases in some counties in Western and Mid-Michigan are now doubling approximately every 10 days.

To continue to protect Michigan families from both the public health and economic impacts of the virus, and to lower the chance of a second wave, the governor’s emergency declaration is extended until June 19, 2020.

Speaking today with our resident Epidemiologist at my facility.  This will not be leaving us. COVID is here to stay.
This will result in societal changes.
Gone : Buffet restaurants.  Goodby China moon Buffet I will miss you.   Cheap sit down meals ( they were never all that cheap but they are about to get a lot more expensive.) restaurants make money by turning tables . At half capacity this is not possible without doubling the price of food. The good news is Food trucks are popping up everywhere and those are great!!  Goodbye DC-10’s.  This week Atlanta’s International airport was a ghost town. The flight had 5 people on it. So flying will be a luxury reserved once again for the Uber wealthy. Expect less large plains and more smaller private charters.  And how do you take a bus and maintain social distancing??
In the hospitals, no waiting rooms ( these must go). Probably nursing homes will have to be entirely reinvented ( a blessing ). Schools rethought. ( homeschooling will be a necessity even though some decry it as a means for Christian parents to indoctrinate their children away from Satan).  Prisons may have to even be redone or we may have to expect them to become much less humane. Or home incarcerations will be enforced in novel ways.
I wonder what else is soon to change before Armageddon?

Linda,  when the Executive Order ends, it doesn’t not mean that brothers will open up the halls. They are being very careful on this.

Soap doesn't really "kill it", it washes off the virus by disallowing germs to stick to your hand and wash off with water. That's how soap works. So if you rub it on your hands and it drys, nothing happpens.

This is used to show people visually on what soap does.

O I know that.

That’s why I said  “Looks like it’s definite now. Our CO visit will be ZOOMED.“  That is with the extension.

No more question either way. 😉

years ago we used to use soap on a toothpick and touch it to a bowl of water with black pepper sprinkled in it.

p.s. you need a little water to spread the soap around.  :whistling:A spoonful of water helps the soap go around, go around, a spoonful of water helps the soap go around. :whistling::blues-bros

I also agree that the act of washing with simple clean soap and water works well. That's why I was confused by soap 'spray'. Bacteria does not like soap and water or even ammonia.

I do have to mention a concern I have with the typical isopropyl alcohol hand sanitizer,  natural cancer clinics agree that isopropyl alcohol causes parasites to become more active, it promotes more cancers. My proof is a sister who went through the regime at Hoxy. But time will tell in the population of over-sanitized people, if we see more cancers I guess its proven correct. I'm still using On-guard and 190 proof vodka.

Medical professionals have made clear that one is safer from the virus outdoors than inside. But that doesn't mean that just because you aren't surrounded by walls, it's impossible to catch COVID-19. "The risk is lower outdoors, but it's not zero," Shan Soe-Lin, a lecturer at the Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affair, told The New York Times. "And I think the risk is higher if you have two people who are stationary next to each other for a long time, like on a beach blanket, rather than people who are walking and passing each other.

As countries emerge from lockdowns, what is the "new normal"? Interesting wrap-up of what's happening in various countries around the world (not just USA).  Places like Lebanon was a tinderbox ready to explode even before Coronavirus, Greece is struggling and hoping for tourists to return, Zimbabwe is being heavily swayed by Chinese influence through donated medical supplies (almost like the proxy cold war days, except China instead of Russia).

I think so.

Many experts say things will never be the same. If that isn't the failure of human government, what is?

The word from the Branch is we are meeting through services like Zoom for the foreseeable future.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

Agree.

I’m just a little skeptical of “expert” claims recently. I’m not saying not to listen to them, but with a “novel virus” and seeing how they’ve been dead wrong on their doomsday projections, I’m taking claims with a grain of salt right now.

They are still learning so they should stay away from making projections about society’s social future.

For example, Fauci was against reopening, as recently as last week, and said schools shouldn’t reopen in fall because we would have a lot of “death and suffering” but he walked that back saying we cannot stay closed too long. This likely came as a result of him being slammed for being callus and unmoved by the social and economic damage done by the lockdowns (links below).

So while I generally trust experts, they’re not infallible and many times they are out of touch with the common man and our plights.
