Earthquakes In One Place After Another...

Recommended Posts

Was just reading about this.

Residents in the coastal Noto area in Ishikawa prefecture were asked to "evacuate immediately to higher ground," national broadcaster NHK said.

NHK said waves as high as 5m had reached Noto.

Authorities have also issued tsunami warnings for neighbouring Niigata and Toyama prefectures, warning that waves there could reach 3m.

Public television flashed "EVACUATE" in big letters, urging residents to flee to higher ground despite the winter weather.

South Korea's meteorological agency has warned that tsunami waves up to 0.3m could hit the eastern coast of the country between 18:29 to 19:17 local time ....

The Intensity 7 (震度7, Shindo 7) is the maximum intensity in the Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale, covering earthquakes with an instrumental intensity (計測震度) of 6.5 and up.[15]At Intensity 7, it becomes impossible to move at will.[13] The intensity was made in the wake of the 1948

Sadly, at Haneda Airport in Tokyo yesterday, two planes collided. All passengers on the JAL flight escaped the fire on board. But 5 of the 6 on the smaller Coastguard plane were killed. It was bringing rescue supplies to the earthquake area of Ishikawa. 😢

Japan can’t get a break. First the earthquake, now the airplane crash. It seems, fortunately, that it didn’t affect the nuclear reactors like the last EQ (2011) did

What's especially sad is that the earthquakes, floods, drought, snowfall, hurricanes, tornadoes keep happening in the same places, causing desolation on top of desolation with almost no reprieve.

Yesterday, a 6.1 hit Guatemala.

Today, a deep 6.5 struck in Brazil.

Large, deep quakes often lead to even larger, shallower quakes in the region.

As this Volcanoes and Earthquakes app shows, in the past 12 months, there have been 180 quakes in the 6.0 + range.

15 of them were  7.0 +.

When they occur on land, the nations are, literally, being shook.
