US Election Outcome

Rather than avoid the topic of the election, our meeting for service was directed as, "for tomorrows meeting for service, we'll discuss the article on jw.org homepage about, Which Leader Will You Choose?
What Does the Bible Say?"

Yep.  It doesn't even hint at which of the candidates seem better qualified, who doesn't have a short fuse, or who can speak coherently.  It doesn't suggest that either candidate can make a difference.  It doesn't open that door at all.

It points to the only one who will make a difference.  The one that doesn't appear on a ballot, but the one we can choose anyway.

My door is way too far off the road for anyone other than a JW to knock on it ...

People in my really remote rural area limit their political enthusiasm and opinions to sticking candidate placards in their yards and at the corners of road intersections.

This is the truth.  What news channel do you watch?   One news channel favors Trump and only puts him in a good light.  Another news channel will only favor Harris and put her in a good light.   I do not believe any of the channels tell the whole truth.

Yes, that is so true. News organizations are supposed to be unbiased and present both sides of the story. I think those days are gone though; every news organization has to bend the news to their liking.

Our next-door neighbor has an assortment of Harris and Democrat signs at his driveway while our across-the-road neighbor has a plethora of Trump and Republican signs at his driveway. There is a smattering of both along other properties on the road.

How nice it is to see our driveway without all that clutter that will be trash that needs disposing tomorrow.

Last night my wife likened this whole thing to a baseball game. Some will root for one team and some for the other. They’ll heckle the opposing team and often cause a disturbance if their team doesn’t win. Just because one team wins the final game doesn’t mean it’s over – instead, the next season starts right back up shortly after.

Meanwhile, the masses were kept entertained and not focused on the real issues.

Wow! Does Satan have this entire system distracted with gladiator games or what?!

I'm in some investment discord servers with "politic" channels, and the amount of time people spend talking back & forth trying to convince each other and lay out "proof" and "facts" is unreal!  It's like they get home from work & that's the rest of their day, just arguing....  :perplexed:

From my outsider perspective, it looks like the Dems are more prone to rioting

The last time I heard that political party referred to as, “Dems”, I had a deep suspicion of a political leaning. And this was with a sister, “Give him a chance”, she said. And i was right. My way of thinking is that if we are not careful with our speech, we may reveal political leanings, without even realizing it.
Our personal news source has a way of popping up, when we least expect it.

The CO is here this week. We are rural. I suspect all will putt along as usual. Meeting tonight. (I get to escape the tv blaring. My husband is hard of hearing)

Special arrangments will carrry on. Lunch at the hall after service. Iʼm just thankful to be able to have good things to concentrate on.

Isn't it funny that the candidates have asked their supporters to go out and knock on doors?

Do you think anyone did it?

I said to my dad, it's probably the only week in the year where someone answers the door and says: "Oh thank goodness, it's only Jehovah's Witnesses."

Since we live near the 5th largest University in the US, and students are very political - not to mention all the political signs in the area, even rural locations ... it seems only prudent to take precautions

Our MWM this week is Zoom Only

"Thongs — flip flops (jandals — New Zealand). Australian thongs are made of a rubber sole and a single v-shaped strap that connects at 3 points to the sole — between the big toe and neighbouring toe, and either side of the start of the heel." :)
