US Gas prices - up or down?

Yeah it's pathetic the turnaround for fuel is 2weeks this war only started a week ago.

I don't understand what you mean. Can you explain what you mean by a 2 week turnaround?

Hear in the AU there is a 2 week turnaround for fuel and oil delivery meaning the price of fuel should not change as it was still the same stock before the war started.

It doesn't work that way here. The prices are driven more by the market than the refiners. Also, even though the refinery current inventory may have been purchased at a lower price and the crack spread increases as the speculation driven futures market goes up, but the reverse is true and the market price may drop while the refinery still has the higher cost inventory.

Of course, one way to help reduce the price of gasoline is to buy stock in the oil company. The dividends and profit may offset the extra expense of gasoline.

Gas here has gone up a dollar a gallon from last week to this week. It has been taking daily jumps of 20 to 30 cents each day

As long is the Strait of Homuz is shut down due to this war, the stock market for world trade will keep going down and the prices for food and petro will continue to rise straight up.  The President of the United States, has directed the release of some reserves of oil to help bring prices down in US.  Russia said no gas or oil will go to European countries other than its allies.
