When I pioneered I often worked with a sister that was addicted to diet soda, every morning started with the largest cup of soda she could buy. When she would get out of the car I would pull the straw up about half way and snip a little piece out of it. When she would drink her soda she would start sucking air when it was still half full.

Once the food got canned it had to go out and find another job. I think that most of the food that was canned back then ended up working as leftovers.
