How about going out with someone who is slower than you. :facepalmpo2:  I used to use a big service bag to put between me and the dog.

I remember many many moons ago ( mid 70s ), it came in handy when walking up a long rural driveway. They saw me coming and let their dog out. I made it to their door unmolested, me and my trusty service bag. They were shocked.:D

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

You don't have to be faster than the dog - just faster than you service partner :lol1:

I am not really afraid of dogs, and they seem to sense than - it has helped me many times while in service as the dog(s) backed off or went the other way.

It's best not to show fear.  As a teenager back in the 60's, I was jogging down a road.  A large dog ran out from a house toward me, barking and growling menacingly.  I turned around toward him and stood my ground.  I could hear the dogs paws scratching the asphalt as he tried to stop.  The dog slid into my leg (nearly caused me to lose my balance) and turned and ran the other way.  He got under the edge of the house and would let out a bark about every 5 seconds.

Since that time, I normally just face a dog and stay still.  I don't want to show fear, nor do I make any menacing gestures toward the dog.  The dogs normally keep their distance or go the other way.

My HDR version of Rochester Silo Art. (took this photo this week)

The GrainCorp Silos at Rochester were painted in July 2018 and were the 22nd silos to be included in the Australian Silo Art Trail.

Jimmy D'Vate, one of Australia's most well known mural artists was chosen to paint the GrainCorp Silos at Rochester.  When ever Jimmy takes on a commission, where possible he will always tries to feature local endemically threatened species and in this case he chose the Azure King Fisher and the Squirrel Glider.
