Because the greatest commandments is to love God and to love our neighbor. Love is what bonds us together as Christians. Love is what identifies Christ's followers as a unified group.

 

Since the love of the greater number is cooling off for those on the outside, you might need to work on improving your love, maintaining it, safeguarding it.

Love is the glue  that comes from Jehovah.  It keeps us together, come what may.  Without love we are nothing as the Apostle Paul said. Love is the identifying mark of true christians.  We Love because God Loved us First and taught us how to love.

 

As this world fragments people to look for their own self interests,  we still seek to  and need to apply God given love  all the more so as that day draws near.

Its a great follow on from the three we just had.  You can be loyal, have endurance, be courageous,  but without love none of that matters.  It will never fail.

Well, if you recall the 2017 Writing Committee report, the GB decides the themes FIVE YEARS in advance, by considering the needs of the brotherhood worldwide. So I think that they could perhaps anticipate the pressure our brothers and sisters will be experiencing as far back as 2014, and felt we needed to be reminded of the love God and Jesus has for us all, despite what we are dealing with.

I  think that our strength stems from love because there are always some in the congregation who need to have somebody else to care about their welfare, because Satan, this world, and our imperfect flesh will always be there to provide an alternative to genuine love.   Friends who live alone, or are chronically sick, or are still fighting against what they left behind to become a Witness, may sometimes need to be reminded of the reasons why they made Jehovah their stronghold.  Last week's WT study was a great reminder, just wonderful.  But we need to continue to encourage each other and express appreciation about how they are exerting themselves vigorously to get and stay through that narrow door.

The last three Conventions were preparing us for the idea that God will always protect his people, no matter what.

 

This year is to help us define who are 'His People'. Most of us believe God will always protect the Righteous, but we obsess over our own mistakes until we're not sure we've 'done enough' to count as 'His People', or obsess over each other's mistakes, so that we hold back from seeing them as 'Part of the family'.

Love is what will keep the congregation together. It is also the sign of the true Christian congregation. Showing love to our brothers has become harder as this world makes us more and more isolated.

Strong congregations makes a strong organisation!!

It is the 'never fails' part that I find intriguing. Why? Because there is ALWAYS a blessing associated with showing it. 

Examples? 

Losing your life because of a stand/love for Jehovah. Blessing? Resurrection 

Supporting arrangements by the elders that you find hard to accept but go along with.. Love for Jehovah's arrangement. Blessing? Loyalty shown to you by Jehovah. 

It goes on...

I think it was decided that we have a convention on love after our last 3 conventions because it’s so important that we be practicing loyalty, endurance, courage and love when the great tribulation begins.

Great Theme. As God is Love, there is unfathomable depth to this topic.
It is THE greatest and strongest bond in the universe.
Nothing {NOTHING!} can seperate us from his love.

So sorry to hear that Josie.. 

You may find comfort in that Jehovah's Love will never fail him either! 

 

It may not comfort you for a short time (none likes grief) but a bit later the 'sure hope' will transcend the grief?

Yes, as soon as the convention season begins, or as soon as people start dropping convention leaks. And then we might lock these so as to keep the discussion centralized.

Last weeks Bible reading included 1 Cor. 13:13 which reads, "Now, however, these three remain: faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love."  The reference was w55, 8/1/p. 455. It pointed out that we have hope that Jehovah's promises will occur, we have  faith in that we believe they will, but love will never fail, even after all other things have been accomplished. Love is the glue that holds us together within Jehovah's organization. The strength of our own love must be cultivated so that we can remain in God's love. We are thrilled that we are assigned to the first of the Regional Conventions this year. We are usually assigned to the last, or next to last. Yes, I will behave myself and not leak any information!

There is no need to fear what the future will bring because Jehovah’s love never fails. He will take care of us come what may.

I think its a good theme. Very timely indeed. We all need to be reminded of God's love for us as some of us are facing extreme opposition, persecution and even violence. This will surely help us endure.

This is my favourite explanation of the scripture from Draw Close to Jehovah, cl chap. 30 pp. 309. paragraph 22.
