This is the vaccine from University of Queensland that looks promising, with no human cell line.

Very early days, but promising.

Sounds very promising.

I read the article three times and failed to note that zero human cells were used in the process.

Bit like golf, lowest number wins.

Also the chart can be sorted by any of the columns. I just snap the default layout. It also counts daily figures added by GMT time. If one country is early or late to report, the daily figure is scewed...

Past vaccine disasters show why rushing a coronavirus vaccine now would be 'colossally stupid'

Vaccine experts are warning the federal government against rushing out a coronavirus vaccine before testing has shown it's both safe and effective. Decades of history show why they're right.

Their concern that the FDA may be moving too quickly heightened when FDA Commissioner Dr. Steven Hahn told the Financial Times that his agency could consider an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a Covid-19 vaccine before late stage clinical trials are complete if the data show strong enough evidence it would protect people. Could My Symptoms Be Covid-19?  August 5

The nose is ground zero for Covid-19. It’s rich in a receptor called ACE2, which the virus uses to get into our cells. As the virus replicates inside the nose and spreads down the respiratory tract and into the lungs, patients may develop various respiratory symptoms.

  • Unlike flu symptoms, which typically come on fast, Covid-19 symptoms may emerge over several days.
  • Some patients have only mild illness, but others begin to feel terrible, with worsening symptoms and a sense of constant discomfort.
  • Painful headache is common, but more serious neurological problems are less common or rare. Mild symptoms include dizziness or feeling lightheaded. Symptoms needing urgent care include confusion, an inability to wake, uncoordinated movement or signs of stroke like facial drooping, numbness or garbled speech

  • Some patients develop Covid pneumonia as the virus attacks the lungs. Sometimes oxygen levels can drop so slowly that the patient doesn’t notice. Short, rapid breathing or severe shortness of breath, particularly at rest, are signs that require urgent medical attention.

  • The virus can show up in unusual ways across the body. Strange rashes — bumpy, smooth, itchy or innocuous — have been reported. In rare cases, the virus inflames joints or damages muscles in the thighs, shoulders or back, causing severe pain.
  • The virus also appears to attach to the insides of blood vessels, and in rare cases causes life-threatening blood clots that travel to the lungs, heart or brain. In very rare cases, clots can cut off blood flow in the limbs, requiring amputation.

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

This is an interesting read ... it is information about a new study that has possible treatment ramifications (the site seemed safe enough)

This really sounds like the breakthrough they've been needing.

Dozens of hospitals poised to defy FDA's directive on Covid plasma

Dozens of major hospitals across the U.S. are grappling with whether to ignore a federal decision allowing broader emergency use of blood plasma from recovered COVID patients to treat the disease in favor of dedicating their resources to a gold-standard clinical trial that could help settle the science for good. - more at the read...........

Widespread Covid-19 vaccination not likely available until mid-2021, World Health Organization says

From CNN's Niamh Kennedy

The World Health Organization is “not expecting to see widespread vaccination [for coronavirus] until the middle of next year," spokesperson Margaret Harris told reporters in Geneva Friday.

There are currently 34 vaccines globally carrying out human trials, according to WHO, with 142 vaccine candidates currently in the pre-clinical trial phase.

Harris was speaking the same day that the first peer-reviewed results of phase one and phase two clinical trials of Russia’s coronavirus vaccine – the world's first approved coronavirus vaccine for public use — were published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet.

Although Harris did not reference the Russian vaccine, Harris emphasized the importance of safety and efficiency checks saying that phase three trials “will take much longer” in order to “see how truly protective” and safe any vaccine is.

Remember: Scientists not involved in the study of the Russia vaccine said while the results are a positive sign, only larger, phase three trials can confirm whether the vaccine actually prevents illness with Covid-19.

My only concern is that the government may give the states the okay to make these vaccines or treatments mandatory... Anyone heard anything on this aspect of the trials?

The Influenza vaccine is already mandatory for many workplaces .  I work in a Hospital and it is mandatory here ( unless you have a healthcare exemption or a religious objection) .  In other words :  It’s only sort of Mandatory.

The  Africans I work with tell

me that in their various countries people generally are not concerned about COVID at all.

Some researchers have shown that other human coronaviruses that cause common colds can elicit an immune response that could provide protection against COVID-19. South African researchers went to work on that idea, attempting to analyze five-year-old blood samples that were conserved from a flu vaccine trial in Soweto. The plan was to look for any evidence that would explain why the African continent is faring much better against the illness than others. Those samples were compromised by technical issues that put a stop to the research.

!!!! They just happen to mismanage the coronavirus samples that could have protected against Covid-19!?

Doing statistics and this caught me by surprise:

What is the likelyhood that someone who tested positive for a disease actually has it?

I need to know 2 things 1. how many actually could have it and 2. how accurate is my test. Let’s say ONLY  .5% or .005 could get it and my test is 99% accurate or .99. So what’s the math? I multiply the number of people who likely have it AND will test positive and divide that by total possible positive cases:

So (.99 * .005) is the first part to be divided by (.99*.005) plus the false positives (.01*.995) OR    .00495 / (.00495 + .00995) = .332. In other words, ONLY 33% of those who test positive will ACTUALLY have it! However, if there are more people likely to be positive – say 10 times the amount and now we are at %5 or .05 now the test result will be 84% correct (.8389). So, even though my test is 99% if the % of people who’ll actually have it is low – the test will just not be that accurate. Amazing!!

Let's go a little more crazy with the numbers. WHAT if I have a large population like 5% who could get sick, but a bad test that is "only" 90% the number of those who test positive that actually have it is back to 32% and much worse if the test is not at least 90% accurate.

This seems to me to be the biggest issues with a lot of this - how accurate are these tests??? No wonder they need to test multiple times to make sure.

WOW! Do we need the kingdom or what!!??

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Jerry, it's all so relative right?

Opinion. Test accuracy. Human failure. Good grief, we just don't know. I believe that the strict recommendation of the slave is the best possible plan of action. Some say its extreme. Well ok, but Jehovah's people are safe this way.

Totally need the Kingdom MB!
