A tornado tore through our family's property and blew down over a hundred really big trees.  The tornado twisted the wood grain, making the trees unusable for boards.

They are left with a lifetime supply of firewood.

 

On a brighter note, the tornado missed or family's beautiful log cabin.

9 yards of bark mulch delivered this morning (during the public talk😳)

After meeting Lew and I used tarps to haul 3/4 of it into the garden, around the raised beds. Because they're on sand I needed the extra stuff to make it durable. Dumped enough on to make it 6 inches deep. Did lay some cardboard to prevent weeds from coming on to soon. Only took about an hour and a half, maybe a bit more but it didn't poop Lew out too bad, he went golfing after we got done!

Tornadoes are becoming more common here, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Those lumberjacks are two of my five younger brothers.  

The tornado occurred on our family's property about 130 miles due West of our farm.

Nice to have brothers that help. They look like strapping men! Nice! 

I'd love to visit your farm, as I'm a farm girl myself. Know all about hard work.

Details:First real aurora storm of this season, made perfect by a rising sickle of the moon low on the horizon. I have to say I've been waiting for this moment far too long, for having trouble to choose which end of the northern lights arc to choose. Also, it has been a while since I've seen such a red tint on the auroras. Nevertheless, it's a definite wow-moment in these times.

We've had snow slide off the roofs of our barns and machine sheds and do this sometimes.

But, mostly, it comes off as a thunderous snow and ice avalanche that caves in the sides of the buildings.
