My mother-in-law thinks that ALL electronic devices are from the devil - phones included. She only caries a cell phone as we pay for it (and yet - she still rarely has it on!! )

Anyway - she say there will be NO electronic devices in the NEW WORLD - everything "connected" to this world will be destroyed!!!

How does she feel about clothes in the New World?  ;)

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

You know they said the same thing about tomatoes in the 18 century U.S. Absolutely positive that they were poison until one person proved them wrong. Have fun winning her over.

Chuck..I find the best way to learn is to be shown in person or watch Tutorials..Androids have device help with pictures but don't

cover everything...I think Jehovah is motivating some older ones to muster up the funds and courage to take the big leap and get a tablet..Do you know of a 10" android under $100?..I am trying to help some sisters in our Cong...

Amazon has a bunch of Android tablets for $100 or less. You'd have to read the reviews on them and find one that has the best ratings.

I am looking forward to more icons on the bottom of the screen!

The best thing for me is that we now have an electronic version of the Interlinear. That is so cool. The reference Bible is still my favourite Bible, but I do use the 4 volume large print to make notes in - better for my eyes and a lot more room to write in.

When we can annotate the app, maybe that will change, it's easier to change notes when we get increased light if they are electronic and not pen or pencil!

I downloaded the PDF version on my laptop and using Nitro Reader 3 which is like adobe but free and ALLOWS you to add notes, Highlight and annotate docs, I am able to make notes on the pdf version.  Love it!

There will hallways be someone who can't unsweetened a thing of technology... but there is still lot's of people who can't read the paper bible. Being unable to use a computer nowadays is the current illiteracy in my opinion

I totally believe that the emphasis from the slave on internet and technology will increase a lot on the near future.

There will always be someone who can't "understand" a thing of technology?  ^_^

I just bought an 8 in Samsung Galaxy! I figured out how to load the JW app too.  That's one big Whoooopie!

Lots to learn about this new tablet.

I'll now download the latest study WT.

I never imagined that Jehovah would shower with so many good things!

Now, lemme see, what will the new system bring????

Doing spot checks between a few different KJV editions, the app appears to have the 1760 Cambridge edition. And being that the app is intended for witnessing, that makes sense since so many in the KJV-only crowd reject all other KJV editions (even the 1611 reprint).

The app even displays untranslated verses in NWT13 for such different translations as KJV, e.g. Mt 17:21. (Here's a helpful list of such verses)

Now I am stumbling. Wikipedia wrote:

A particular verse for which Blayney's 1769 text differs from Parris's 1760 version is Matthew 5: 13, where Parris (1760) has

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost
his
savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be
troden
under foot of men.

Blayney (1769) changes 'lost his savour' to 'lost its savour', and troden to trodden.

But in our printed edition (and alo in our app) I found; 'lost his savour' AND 'trodden'. Is Wikipedia wrong or do we have a mixture of 1760 and 1769? :depressed:

When I first tried to use the Windows 8 JW Library in a VirtualBox VM I couldn't get it to work. (It worked fine outside a VM) I tried again today and noticed an update in the Windows Store. It is now working great inside my VM. I couldn't figure out how to copy/paste with BlueStacks, and now I won't have to.  :)

I just did the upgrade and now it doesn't work at all, just freezes up my tablet. Should I uninstall it and do a reinstall?

How did you download the Windows 8 version using VM? I have Windows 7 and I can get to the apps page in the Windows market, but there is no download link since it doesn't detect Windows 8 on my machine.

It's Windows 8 running on the VM. Previously in the JW Library app, I would only see text on the screen while the mouse was moving and the Bible scriptures never loaded.

I'd try rebooting the tablet first since it is a big download. But an uninstall/reinstall would be a good next option.

Lots of interesting discussion on the KJV used in the app. I saw this while perusing through the app files today. This information doesn't seem to be user-facing, so it's possible the actual year used was never updated. In any event, I figured it'd add to the discussion.

Also, if you're an Android user with an sd card and (1) your ROM doesn't have a "Move to SD" feature, (2) you have root and (3) you know how to make symbolic links, than I have some good news. You can successfully move /data/data/org.jw.jwlibrary.mobile/app_publications to your sd card and make a symbolic link for it. I've had no discernible slowdowns in the app and saved 147 MB in app storage.

We've been told and you know it's true, after Armageddon we are going back to horse and buggies and if you disagree, you just might not make it. There will be no internet...........I can't find the Watchtower on the on-line library though. Some help please.

I saw several remarks about it not working on e readers. Please confirm so I'm not giving out wrong info. to our dear older ones who are desperatly trying to keep up with the chariot (including moi!) and considering buying a device to have the new app - can any of the e readers get it? What do I tell them to look for when purchasing one? Thanks for any help you can provide.

This may have been mentioned as I haven't read this whole thread but if you install BlueStacks you  can install jw library (Now just the Bible) on a windows 7 or Mac desktop or notebook. All you need is a google account. I have the instructions if anyone is interested.

If all you can get is the Bible without the other translations, why not just download the 2013 NWT from the jw.org web site? What's the difference?

I advice to buy an androit tablet rather than an ereader. Although they say to be compatible with android app's it's just a cut short version, lot's of app's don't work.

The price is also leveled up now. For instance, you can buy a full featured android 4.2 quad-core 8'' tablet (like the acer a1-810 I have) for less than the dual core 7'' kindle fire hd or nook color.... and if you look around you'll find pretty sufficient even cheaper tablets with full android
