To boost or not to boost?

 

there’s ample evidence that a 3rd shot or 4th shot (1st or 2nd) booster will help provide important protection, and that is especially vital for people age 50+, with ample support for the recommendation for all age 12 and older to get boosters. The right question is about the 5th booster, for which there are no clinical data yet, but will likely extend a high level of protection against severe Covid. But 4 or 6 months isn’t going to cut it as a public health protection policy, as there will be further attrition of interest and uptake for boosters as we go forward. Fortunately, we’re declining in cases and will likely experience a fairly quiescent phase with respect to infections and hospitalizations for the next couple of months until BA.2.75.2 gets legs (or an alternative BA.2 derivative).

Are each booster shots different formulas or the same?  If person A comes in for booster 4, and person B comes in next for booster 5, do they receive the same or different booster shot?

It depends on each country government rules…

So far there s no other VOC than Omicron

Thats the variant that is still causing COVID.

Main subvariants BA.5 and BA.2.75 ( from India)

Who ever had any of these has a limited protection so if these variants generate more subvariants it’s expected mild to low symptoms and low hospitalizations.

Some vaccines exist already with BA lineage along with whuan original strain. It seems to be the best humans can do so far

intranasal vaccines are expected soon and these may

curb transmission and thus reduce infections.

scientists call them a “soup” of variants dominating now.

so far nothing really new except that some report that some people are getting back to ventilators 😬

The testing actually showed, though, that the chimeric virus was more lethal to a type of lab mice than Omicron itself, killing 80% of the mice infected. Importantly, the Wuhan strain alone killed 100% of mice it was tested in.

Here's something personally annoying.

 

In August I first had a sore throat and then wham was floored. Nose cold which migrated to the bag of the nose so nasal dripping into the throat kept me coughing rather than sleeping (I didn't know about Nasal Irrigation at the time). Coughed up tons of phlegm, cough also went into the chest. Repeated tests showed I had Covid for about a week. Such is life, at least I survived.

 

Week and a half ago I got the flu jab. Start of the week I got a sore throat. Thursday wham floored. Coughing. Nose cold I can feel going into the bag of the throat (using Nasal irrigation). Feel I've coughed up my body weight in phlegm in last two days, also feel it might be going for the chest. Main difference is the dangly bit at the end of the throat may hurt more this time. Have taken three Covid tests so far, all match my mood i.e. Negative.

 

I'm not saying Covid is just a bad cold, I am saying Life Is Unfair.🤢😭

If your a diary eater.  Might try not ingesting it during an episode. 

 

When i went dairy free all together i noticed my body had far less of it to interact with.

 

Seems your body has a cleaner version of it and not as much.

Agree with you there Vern, I do take milk but have stopped while sick. I saw in the past taking milk made these sort of bugs last longer.

I had a nasty sore throat recently, but I didn't have any other symptoms. I don't know what caused it. I like using Airborne in a cup of hot water when I get sick.

This may be way off topic but I have been off drinking milk for a number of years. Never realized how  it affected my sinus issues. I rarely get an attack (pressure bridge of nose) anymore. Use to have it more than once a week. 😬

We’ve got a few older ones off sick with covid atm, as they had been together at a cafe (one sister is recovering from open heart surgery).  She answered via zoom yesterday and sounded awful. But can’t stop these faithful ones 🌸 

 

We’re coming into our summer so flu will drop off. Covid sticks around and Is year round, unfortunately.

EDIT To clarify, the following is posted purely as my personal experience. For treating sickness and symptoms of sickness all are encouraged by the FDS to check what's best for them.

 

I've never used a Nasal spray but I don't think so. Nasal irrigation you basically push the liquid (water with a sachet of something added) up one nostril and it comes down the other. Then you repeat the other way.

 

With my last dose of Covid I'd a lot of stuff at the back of the nose and when I tried to lie down to sleep it would drip down causing coughing costing me about three nights of sleep, I was delirious. The Nasal Irrigation brought out green gunk so it was cleaning up and afterwards I SLEPT!!!. Then the cough moved into my chest so I couldn't sleep at night. 🤦‍♂️

 

Not sure if I really need it this time, nothing much comes out now, but I'm hitting this bug with everything I can lay my greasy paws on so I can at least rest. Hope that helps Shawn.
