The Mysterious Coronavirus Spreading Worldwide

I hear that any foreigner who is quarantined in a Singaporean hospital, gets free treatment. I doubt anyone would like to put in such a situation.

I read that the Thai health minister is warning its citizens not to go to such countries like Singapore, South Korea, China etc. If they come back there will have to be quarantined for 2 weeks.  It seems that the Thais are taking advantage of the cheap air ticket prices. The same minister also warned that it may be their last trip overseas. Oh my. I can understand not going to high risk areas like South Korea or China but surely Singapore should be quite safe, no?

Anyway, I decided not to go down south (Singapore) this week because my free hotel stay fell through. It wasn't worth the risk. Better not take any unnecessary risks.

I came back from Padang, Indonesia 2 weeks ago and am still nursing a mild cough. My CBOE insisted that I wear a mask during the meetings.  He kindly let me have one, a mildly scented one. I even went out preaching without wearing a mask but some in my group did wear one. I thought it weird to be wearing mask while going door to door in the low cost flats. People might have some weird thoughts going through their heads seeing us coming in masks. Looks so odd.

Yes. Its true that covid19 treatment is free in Singapore.

Its to encourage those having the symptoms to seek treatment instead of remaining at large and infecting others.

You probably did the right thing in not travelling.

7 of us from Singapore planned to visit bethel in the US in April but received an email from jw.org centraltourdesk telling us to reschedule our visit as we were from Singapore. So sadly, we had to cancel our trip in Apri. But its probably for the best.

So its best not to travel if we can help it. (in my opinion)

So if this is like the herpes virus and can remain dormant then come back later, couldn't it recede for awhile and then come back with a vengeance? It could just end up being one of those pestilences that comes and goes. Just another thorn to contend with in this system.

I live in a temporary reality- awaiting the day I wake up to life in the real world!

The numbers of those infected only represent those who have been tested.  The criteria for who got tested was very narrow so there could have been many more infected with the Coronavirus than reported.   The criteria for testing has widen a little, but still does not include the general population who was/are sick with a virus or has died from complications from a virus.    On the news this morning, they said it is possible that the Coronavirus has been circulating for weeks here in the states and many other places.  As doctor Jennifer Ashton stated on the news a few days ago,  you have to take the numbers not with a grain of salt, but with a chunk of salt.

* If this is the case, the positive is that more people have survived the virus than originally thought.

As for it killing those mostly 65 and older or with underlying health problems. . . There are many of us in that age group so for us, this virus is a real threat.  And for others with underlying health problems, that may include those with asthma, diabetes, or other common health conditions including those who think they are healthy but have unknown health problems that have been undetected.

So for those who are younger and  in relatively good health, all this news about this virus may appear to be media hype, but for the rest of us, this is something we do need to take heed of.  Like the scripture quoted in the letter from the U.S. Branch says: Prov 22:3- "The shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself."

.

Take precautionary measures, practice good hygiene, and yes have a HEALTHY fear of this virus if you are in the high risk category, but DO NOT panic!  This too will pass.

Why why should they be worried?

Whether it's a matter of faulty detection, climatic factors or simple fluke, the remarkably low rate of coronavirus infection in African countries, with their fragile health systems, continues to puzzle – and worry...

They want africa to always be at the height of all the sufferings in the world. This is why jehovah's vengeance will be upon on you for the most part. This is so heart breaking!!!

Scientists reveal the deadly illness kills off lung cells and can cause the immune system to go 'haywire'

The coronavirus could damage people's kidneys and send their immune systems 'haywire' as well as infecting the lungs, according to scientists.

.. is known to cause serious lung damage and deadly pneumonia.

It does this by attaching to and reproducing in tissue inside the lungs, where it kills cells in the process of spreading.

As the cells are killed they drop off of the lungs' linings and build up in clumps inside the organs, making it hard to breathe and triggering further infections.

The virus can also send the immune system into overdrive as it tries to fight off infection, triggering swelling which can lead to more breathing difficulties.

If a severe infection takes hold it may move on to cause damage or dysfunction to the stomach, intestines, heart, liver and kidneys, and even provoke organ failure.

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

Transcribed from the radio so not quite exact. I did this mainly for myself because I thought it sounded so sensible and I thought I'd share.

Extremes - Some panic. Some people say: What on earth is everyone going on about! Flu kills thousands of people year so why is this such a big deal.

Learned from a senior medic:

Part of the plan for the Corona virus is to stop there being a peak - so everybody has it at the same time, because of the stress that is put on the infrastructure, especially in the health infrastructure and the knock on effects that has on for other health reasons.

So there isn't necessary a case of, what do we do to prevent people getting C V, we know 4 in 5 people have mild if no symptoms at all, but equally what we don't want is a peak, so many of the preventative measures that are being talked about are to try to spread the disease out, spread the impact out, so that we can have the infrastructure, so we can cope with it.

And the many knock on effects that we have as consumers are less about the illness itself which of course, if you have severe issues, if you have immune system problems, if u are an older person and you are more susceptible to it, it could be severe, a real problem, but for those out there saying: this doesn't affect me because I'm young, fit and healthy, and look at all the data, it is unlikely to hit me.

It won't necessarily be the impact on 'your' health if we'll do have an pandemic size outbreak that is the problem but the procedure that are put in place to prevent "YOU" being contagious towards other people.

Why all our efforts at prevention will fail.

SARS ( Covid-19) can live on surfaces ( doorknobs, tables, handrails) for days ( possibly weeks) . In comparison the current flu strains live for about 6 hours on surfaces.

What does this mean. It means that we are all going to contract this virus. We will not escape.

What should we do. The same recommended practices. Hand washing and disinfection of surfaces in our control. Why?

It isn’t the COVID virus itself that actually is lethal. It is the secondary infections from bacteria.  Those bacteria are very susceptible to the precautions we take.

The first year of this virus will have a high death toll. And the virus will remain with us from here on. We will get reinfected with some form of covid every year. And like the flu we will probably be chasing it with a vaccine . So expect another line of vaccines.

Here is the good news. Any surfaces outside that are exposed to sunlight will become less hazardous as the season turns warm in the Northern Hemisphere. As all these viruses and bacteria are susceptible to UV radiation. And as it’s already time to start my garden seeds indoors I will be adding a whole lot of UV full spectrum bulbs to my house.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

A nice report on cbs Sunday morning said hour(s) on surfaces for Covid-19. They seem reputable. I'll look at it again later.

From BBC live news

'A unique virus' - WHO chief

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says the new coronavirus

"is a unique virus with unique features".

"This virus is not influenza.

We have never before seen a pathogen that can transfer between individuals [so easily]."

"Containment of Covid-19 must remain the top priority for all countries," he says, adding that governments have "no choice but to act now".

In my initial going over what I've seen yesterday, I can't find the doctor who was out in public that was addressing the public's concern about Covid-19. Will try later.

There appears to be panic buying for hand sanitizer and cleaners in my area, my daughter said when she was ordering for online pick up at a big chain super market it stated that they were limiting the amount one could purchase. I went to my local grocery and they only had one smaller pump style left of the cheaper store brand, all large bottles were gone, plenty of toilet paper left though! When they restock I think I'll buy some for the KH, they did read our letter yesterday and had one bottle of sanitizer in the back! We have 4 congregations, things go quick!

I’ve been thinking...(tongue in cheek)

These politicians, and even some religious, “leaders”, who expose themselves to masses, may be putting themselves in extraordinary danger. Is this the time to rally thousands?
A medical situation will not go away because one thinks it is a, “hoax”.
I know, we have our assemblies and conventions, but, with Jehovah and Christ in charge...

Go to the Dollar Store.  I bought mine there last year.  I also bought my disinfected wipes too.

While Iran has closed schools and universities to stop the spread of the virus, major Shiite shrines have remained open despite civilian authorities calling for them to be closed.

The holy cities of Mashhad and Qom in particular, both home to shrines, have been hard-hit by the virus.

Shiites often touch and kiss shrines as a sign of their faith. Authorities have been cleaning the shrines with disinfectants.

Police have arrested one man who posted a video showing himself licking the metal enclosing the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, the most-important Shiite saint buried in the country, according to reports by semiofficial news agencies.

In the video, the man said he licked the metal to “allow others to visit the shrine with peace of mind.”
