I agree with you. I really don't see the point of this. People can do what they want though.

Everyone can make their own decision, but the point is that it greatly decreases the likelihood of serious illness and hospitalization. It also decreases the likelihood of contracting it at all. My husband and I just got our first doses. After our second doses, we will still continue to use masks and socially distance, but it will ease some of my fears/anxiety about either of us getting infected while at work.

America could soon be swimming in COVID-19 vaccine. The shift from scarcity to surplus could bring its own problems.

In just two months, the United States could be swimming in COVID-19 vaccine.  Literally swimming. The 500 million 0.5 or 0.3-milliliter doses expected to be shipped by then are enough to fill a 55,000-gallon swimming pool.

With a plentiful supply of vaccine, there will be more urgency to convince the reluctant to accept it, experts say. Otherwise, the abundance of vaccine will become a stagnating surplus that threatens to undermine the nation's ability to move beyond the pandemic.

"When we start to have more vaccine available, we're really going to be in bad shape because what we're going to see is a lot of people who don't want to get vaccinated," said Bernadette Boden-Albala, dean of the public health program at the University of California, Irvine.

On the other hand maybe by the time everyone who wants to get vaccinated gets it, we will have to start over with a booster shot like the flu we get every year.

I had my regular Dr. appointment today. I asked him about the vaccines. He said that all three of the ones offered in the US are good - one is not any better than the others.

He also said he thinks all of them will require yearly boosters like the flu vaccine does.

He did say the important thing was to get one ...

Good to know! I’ve heard some mention concerns about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and its effectiveness.

The thing with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and its effectiveness is that it was tested against the more deadly South African and Brazilian variants of the virus whereas the others were not so it is like comparing apples to oranges.  The important thing is that it prevented death and hospitalization.

"Protection from infection and disease are two different things," Kamil said. In other words, a vaccinated person could still become infected with the coronavirus, but that infection likely wouldn't lead to illness. "The worst case scenario is you might get sick, but you likely wouldn't have to go to the hospital."
This means that even if variants cause another surge of infections, hospitals across the country will hopefully be spared being pushed to the brink, as has happened during previous waves.

Nashville to vaccinate 10,000 people in one day at Nissan Stadium

Nashville intends to vaccinate 10,000 residents in one day at a drive-thru event at Nissan Stadium on March 20 – the largest mass vaccination drive announced in Tennessee so far.

The event will exclusively use the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, so participants won't be required to seek a second dose elsewhere, according to the Nashville Metro Public Health Department

My wife and I will not be in that line up, we're going to a nearby hospital for our 2nd today.

We got the Pfizer, 2nd jab today, in n out ( just like the burger  franchise ) 20 minutes total including the 15 minute after wait !

Looks like vaccinations in the US are progressing well.(:P)

I got my pfizer 1st jab yesterday. The vaccination center was crowded too but it was over in 15 mins too. Had to wait 30 mins for observation after the jab.

"In the U.S., more Americans have received at least one dose than have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began.

So far, 95.7 million doses have been given. In the last week, an average of 2.17 million doses per day were administered."

After waiting a month and a half, I’m finally going this Friday afternoon for my first poke.

Our hospital has a ridiculous way of handling phone calls for the vaccine. You don’t get to talk to a person, everyone just leaves a message.

Others called in after me and already have their shots. O well,  ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️

Questions still unanswered after taking the vaccine is, if one gets the virus after having max. immunity will they be asymptomatic and a potential spreader of the virus and or will it be possible to get longhauler effects even though they had little to no symptoms

in the USA the situation is better under control.  there are a lot of vaccines, or there will be ... a lot of problems in Europe and elsewhere.  there is chaos in Brazil.  in the EU there is no vaccine even 20% as it should have been.  despite vaccination of the population, the number of infected is growing in many countries.  new vaccine-resistant subtypes of the virus are emerging.  sometimes i think this will never end .. scientists say 3-5 years.  i think it's realistic or it will end up in armageddon which wouldn't be bad 😅. there is really a lot of suffering in this world.  undescribable.  I want the kingdom of God to come !!!

Denmark, Iceland and Norway have suspended the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine while the European Union's medicines regulator investigates whether the shot could be linked to a number of reports of blood clots.

Denmark announced a two-week suspension on Thursday following a number of reports of clotting in the country, including one fatal case. Iceland and Norway followed suit, but did not say how long their suspensions would last.

At a primary school in Velenje, Slovenia, a large number of vaccinated teachers developed severe side effects and classes were canceled today.
Due to the illness of 26 teachers, the entire pedagogical process in the school was canceled, because they do not have enough staff to teach. Teachers were vaccinated with AstraZeneca. He added that teachers generally reported high fever (39 degrees celsius), dizziness and headache.

Yep. Usually lasts a couple of days tops with that vaccine.
