  1. Saturday, February 28 I saw four angels . . . holding tight the four winds of the earth.—Rev. 7:1. When the angels unleash the winds of destruction, what will happen then? Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, will meet her deserved end. “Peoples and crowds and nations and tongues” will be unable to give her effective support. Already we see indications that her demise is near. (Rev. 16:12; 17:15-18; 18:7, 8, 21) In fact, a lack of support is now reflected in the news media, where religion and religious leaders are increasingly coming under attack. Even so, the leaders of Babylon the Great feel that they are in no real danger. How wrong they are! Following the proclamation of “Peace and security!” political elements of Satan’s system will suddenly turn on false religion and wipe it out. (1 Thess. 5:3) Never again will Babylon the Great be seen! Surely it is worth waiting patiently for such momentous events.—Rev. 18:8, 10. w13 11/15 2:13, 14

  2. *waving from Perth!* Yes, fellow Aussies were just thrilled to see both Brother Lett and Brother Jackson at last year's convention, with their talks broadcasted to all the regionals and the international in Melbourne. When we got to see Bro Jackson interviewing a faithful old couple in Townsville, and then finding out they were his parents, well we were choked with emotion. How wonderful to see that faithful family together! And Brother Lett's smile was so contagious - his sincerity was real and we could tell he really believed and lived what he preached, and that made his talks very listenable.

  3. My parents came into the Truth just before Bro. Rutherford died. I remember how upset they were. They hadn't been with the Witnesses long enough to realize that it didn't depend on a certain person. But I have to think about all the things that Bro Knorr instituted, Gilead school, Theocratic Ministry School and many others that brought us so much into the present organization. He was a tireless worker for Jehovah, travelled all over the world getting the org. going and expanding the preaching work. He set up the schools that helped us to be Ministers not having to rely on the testimony card or a phonograph record to preach the good news. Each one has had a part in making us what we are today but I have to say, I have a very soft spot for Nathan Knorr. He also married a sister that was from our Cong. in Colo. so we felt like he was part of our family!!

  7. Evolution- contradicts the bible and leaves ones with little hope. In view of it - life has no purpose. Then there is the other extreme- creationism. How use the bible to overturn? "Was life created" brochure a great tool. Gen 1:1 - simple but powerful. This is an action separate from :3 onward. The universe and earth was in existence for an indefinite time before the activity in :3. How long were creative days? The Bible doesn't say. Wording indicates considerable lengths of time. Science and Bible harmonize. Recent years we have the feature - "was it designed?" Example - April 2015 "function of cat whiskers" . Discussed. Only now partially understood. Why study? Researchers designing things to mimic - sensors (eWhiskers) . What do you think? Evolution or design? Simple. Revelation 4:11 YOU are worthy Jehovah! We have the tools.all credit to Jehovah.

A favorite? Voting? Too much like judging to me. I am not in position to judge the anointed. They lived at different times but each in his time did "just so." AH173's comment above is good and similar comments about the others might be appreciated. But to pick a favorite? Shook hands with Knorr once, I was little, he was tall. That day he was my favorite.

    Joke - Why did....

A passenger in a taxi leaned over to ask the driver a question and tapped him on the shoulder. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the kerb, and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window. For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, and then the still shaking driver said, "I'm sorry but you scared the daylights out of me." The frightened passenger apologised to the driver and said he didn't realise a mere tap on the shoulder could frighten him so much. The driver replied, "No, no, I'm sorry, it's entirely my fault. Today is my first day driving a cab. I've been driving a hearse for the last 25 years."

  10. What's better than having the first Monday of the month on 2nd day of the month? Having the first Monday of the month on the 1st day of that's month. Unfortunately, we're gonna have to wait until June for that. But hey, 2nd day of the month is the second best thing More time to watch it, and re-watch it, and transcribe it and everything! Any guesses for who might host this months program? I am assured that we are all eagerly waiting for the new program.

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1562063466334&set=vb.1677755054&type=2&theater This is the kind of thing that my oldest daughter does while we are doing school... I do not make up songs like this, or even look for them... she makes up her own as we are doing school work, it just comes to her, like this. It drives my husband up a wall!!! He's like singing... no more singing! lol He blames my side of the family, cause they do sing and dance a lot. One day when he was blaming me for this... I was teasing and I said, I don't know why you blame me. It was about midnight, and he was like, I bet if we drove over to your parents house right now, some one would be singing and dancing right this very minute! The funny thing is... he was probably right... I have 17 siblings, my dad is pretty musical/dancy? He used to enter dance contest when I was growing up and win. 6 of my siblings are adopted from Haiti, with a strong singing/dancing culture. lol Yes people are always singing and dancing. lol However, I'm still impressed when Lela can come up with a song about what ever we are learning, right on the spot. One of my little brothers is a bit like Wayne Brady and actually has won a lot of contest that were Wayne Brady like (where they give you a subject and right there on the spot you make up a song for it). My dad used to do that a lot when I was growing up too... not so much as he's getting older, but still sometimes! lol haha For me... I didn't inherit that part of our genes! lol haha

    Net Neutrality

I'll give you the short version: some things on the internet take more bandwidth than others, such as watching videos on JW Broadcasting. ISPs such as Time Warner and Comcast would like to charge more for internet "fast lanes" for these types of things. They laws they have fought for would in fact allow them to bottleneck content in favor of their own content as well. In short, it's a law that only benefits internet service providers and lets them make more money. To the internet end user, it means we might have to pay more for certain types of content. To content distributors, it means they would basically have to pay bribes to ISPs in order to get fast lanes for their content, or else suffer in the slow lane. The neutrality laws the FCC passed means that the internet is a utility, much like electricity or water, and can't be slowed or blocked for any reason except non-payment. Predictably, ISPs are [angry], issuing misleading press releases trying to make the new law sound like a bad thing. No doubt there will be lawsuits soon. But for now, the internet as a whole is a resource that your access to at any promised speed is protected.

  13. Basically, nothing changes. The net neutrality law (which has been passed by the FCC) puts into law the de-facto rules that have been in effect since the 1990s. While there were concerns that things could change for the worse if the bill did not pass, those concerns can now be laid to rest. There are media outlets that claim otherwise, but their reports are largely written by corporate sponsors and invariably speak against politicians and political parties, with zero basis in the actual facts of the law as it has been passed.

Is there anyone of you brothers and sisters that have read every magazine, article, watched every video, dramas, watched every video clips on jw broadcasting? The World around us is starving spiritually and we are getting to be FAT little sheep. No offense meant by that last comment. I meant spiritually speaking.

  15. For a long time we understood the creative days to be 7,000 years long. I never heard of 6000 years except in reference to time since Adam's creation. Which is why 1975 became such a big thing. Never in my years, and they are many, have we ever concluded that the earth was only 6000 years old.

  18. Friday, February 27 We are overturning . . . every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God.—2 Cor. 10:5. Fundamentalists of Christendom teach that the universe, including our earth and all life on it, is only a few thousand years old. Those who teach this doctrine—known as creationism—may have high regard for the Bible, but they contend that God created all things in six 24-hour days just a few thousand years ago. They reject credible scientific evidence that contradicts their view. As a result, the teaching of creationism actually discredits the Bible, making it appear unreasonable and inaccurate. Individuals who promote such views might remind us of some in the first century who had a zeal for God “but not according to accurate knowledge.” (Rom. 10:2) How can we use God’s Word to overturn the “strongly entrenched” doctrines of evolution and creationism? (2 Cor. 10:4) We can do so by gaining accurate knowledge of the Bible. w13 10/15 1:1, 3

    Calendar misgivings

For me it's really more about Monday is normally the first day of the week for everyone. Monday is the first day of the week for school, for many people who work like me Monday is the first day of my work week. Sat and Sun are the weekends and come after the work week which is for me Mon-Fri. That is why I have always thought the calendar should be Mon-Sun.

I like who I work with I get to set my own hours I love teaching It fulfills a basic spiritual need and produces the fruitage of joy I am still a little stressed that I haven't been able to acquire something part-time, but with all the things going on in my family.... I look at not working as a blessing from Jehovah. I'm off to apply for a part-time technical position that just popped on the job boards - it's two days a week! I've NEVER seen that before.

    Joke - Why did....

After the Pooh story I thought all of you needed this: A burglar was practicing his trade in a darkened house, using his flashlight to find his way around when he heard a voice. “Jesus knows you’re here.” He nearly jumped out of his skin, turned his flashlight off and froze. When he heard nothing more, after a bit, he shook his head and continued. Just as he pulled the stereo out to disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard ”Jesus is watching you.” Freaked out he shined his light around looking for the source of the voice. Finally in the corner of the room his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. “Did you say that” he hissed at the parrot. ”Yep” said the parrot “I am just trying to warn you that HE is watching you.” The burglar relaxed, “Warn me, huh, who in the world are you?” “Moses” replied the bird. “Moses” the burglar laughed, “What kind of people would name a parrot Moses?” The reply, “The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.”

  24. Here is part of an article about a person(not a Witness) who had a good paying job and quit. Here are his reasons why. This is an extreme example, but maybe this can be of help to those who are considering leaving a good job for what they feel are more important things? NBA Basketball player - quitting job - losing Millions _______________________________________________________________________ By Tony Manfred 9 hours ago Milwaukee Bucks forward Larry Sanders has walked away from basketball after five years in the league He explained that the job didn't make him happy, despite the money that goes along with it: "I think this is seen to be a desirable, lucrative job or position. People say, 'How could you be unhappy there? How could that be a place you don't want to be?' The values and the relationships of the people I love around me are my real riches. That's my lasting wealth." Sanders had three years remaining on a $44 million contract. He left around $21 Million on the table in the buyout.

  26. Ok. So when the coalition of nations (whether it is this one formed or not) attacks all false religion at once, then that is this attack under the UN's command. So another words, if I get it, this could be the coalition but until they attack all false religion at one time simultaneously, this will be the attack on false religion to begin the GT. Did I get that right? And thank you.
    1 point
  27. The attack on Babylon will indeed be a coalition of nations under the leadership of the UN (since the UN alone has no military might nor kingly authority), but the coalition itself wouldn't necessarily be Gog until it forms a plan to attack true worship, even if the member nations are identical.
    1 point
  28. Brother Stavro, I have a question on that...I agree with you on these points but unclear on the coalition of nations, I know we will probably get more talks on this soon, but I will ask you anyway, when we have the UN leading the attack on false religion, doesn't that mean the coalition of nations under their command? Just thought that they would make the treaty for these nations to work together, not act alone...could you help me understand? Thanks.

  30. The attack on false religion is headed by the UN itself, at the beginning of the great tribulation. The coalition of nations making up Gog will attack true worship alone, and it doesn't act until some time after false religion is destroyed. Of course the end results are clear, the world governments will join together to act against both false and true worship, but we want to be careful about looking to the wrong group when it's really the UN who is going to make the next move.

(Mark 9:33-37) And they came into Ca·perʹna·um. Now when he was inside the house, he put the question to them: “What were you arguing about on the road?” They kept silent, for on the road they had been arguing among themselves about who is greater. So he sat down and called the Twelve and said to them: “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and minister of all.” Then he took a young child and stood him in their midst; and putting his arms around him, he said to them: “Whoever receives one of such young children on the basis of my name receives me also; and whoever receives me receives not me only but also Him who sent me.”

  38. Association is just one part of it. My oldest is easily influenced by others. So we thought it would be good to keep her home til she is mature enough, and has a better understanding of herself to hold her own against it. Secondly, she is ADHD, she has a very hard time sitting still, and would not do well in a classroom setting. She is however very very smart! Way above her years. This would be squelched in a PS, where all they would see is her inability to sit still! And she would most likely be forced onto medication. Thirdly, my children are African American and Mexican, it's been proven through studies time and again even if the teacher is AA themselves, they do not pay as much attention to the AA students and focus more on the non minority students. We also see this in the skewed amount of AA men in prison vs white men. Racism is very prevalent in our school district. My own little sister (haitian), was brought up on federal charges by the school, on something that was on video proving she did not do what they accused her of. Yet it took a lot of lawyer fees and two years for it to be thrown out of court! They wanted my sister to just plead guilty, but my step mom absolutely refused, and continued to fight for her... some one with less money and less determination would of been rail roaded by their tactics. Not to mention the racism I myself lived through in school. I was not allowed to ride the school bus because of my race. Now that law was changed when I was 18 (after I had completed school). Still, that is what the legacy is of this state. The laws of people of my race allowed to ride the school bus was not changed til the 1990's, when I was 18 years old! Fourth, I wanted more time with our family. I don't see how to send a child away from us, for 8 to 10 hours a day, then they come home to another 2 to 4 hours of homework, and then there is sleeping time. We would have very very little time or influence on them, with that little time left with them. I want us to be the number 1 influence in their lives. As a quote from Malcome X often comes to mind-Only a fool would send their child to the enemy for education. I of course am not a Malcom X follower, but in this one instance his quote makes a LOT of sense. In our lives Satan is the ruler of this world, including the government which controls the school system. So in essence we would be sending our children to the enemy for their education. And then again sooo little time left with them.. when I did research that we could be done with a days worth of school in the same amount of time that most children have to take to do their homework alone. Fifth, if the first four reasons weren't enough... public school is made for the masses in what ever a few people have decided is right for that age/grade. Where if we homeschool we can tailor the education exactly to the child. They do not have to be bored (like I often was) because they are sooo far ahead of the other children, not lost and just shoved on because they are behind the other children. But, we can work one on one, and make sure they are learning, and continuing to be challenged, and focused on what ever needs more individual help with. And the best part of that is we can add in more Bible training incorporated into their learning, so they get all the more so influence by the one we truly want to influence our children-Jehovah.

  45. I came here cause I heard the word chocolate. I wonder if they will investigate the real reason WHY we meet those needs. It's not because each of us is a data analyst, with years of market research in meeting the needs of the people. We are unlettered and ordinary in comparison to others of today's world. Such an examination would only force them to conclude we have acquired this understanding through none other than God himself. I recall when I first started studying that these people were so nice and kind it seemed a farce. Then there were all peoples of all nations worshipping together, it wasn't a boring service, it was a dynamic, ever changing and interesting. I hated the songs though. Then they even changed that! These songs, they reach right into your heart and divide it too! Just like the bible does because they are based on each scripture. Even my son, who has been away commented -- he's like wow, the words to these songs are so personal. My son's fiancee, she says when I go to the meetings I HEAR TRUTH -- that made me laugh inside. She's like, I've attended other churches and none of it made sense. This makes sense. She attended several meetings and freaked out, and hasn't been since. LOL Why? Because she knows she will have to make changes. If her heart is right though, she will come again. Love it or hate it, the witnesses have God's spirit and with it, we will go and do whatever Jehovah says, wherever he says we need to.
