This is from this website. I don’t get it though. It’s confusing to me. 

Introduction

JWLMerge is a utility to merge 2 or more .jwlibrary backup files. These backup files are created using the JW Library backup command, and contain your personal notes, highlighting, etc.

At time of writing, JW Library has backup and restore commands, but no merge command. This means you can add personal annotations in JW Library on several devices and transfer these between devices, but cannot combine them into a single set. The JWLMerge command is a Windows command-line tool that allows you to merge 2 or more .jwlibrary files into a single backup file that can then be restored onto any device.

You can backup those notes, but if you restore the backup from your tablet in your phone, the notes that were in your phone will be lost. Is it just for Windows devices?

Sounds good. Is it still in beta? 

 

On another note, now that I have split screen in my iPad, I can have iBooks on one pane (my preferred method of studying) and JWL on another pane, to add any notes in the Bible.

I think the CLI utility is Windows only, but I’d imagine the JW Library backup files are cross platform. So, a backup file from an iPad could be merged with a backup file from an Android device. Do they both have the same .jwlibrary extension?

 

However, I could be wrong, so this needs to be confirmed by a guinea pig daring tester.

I tried to use to utility today, and encountered an error. Already have submitted the issue to the developer.
It would be great to hear how did other go. Although i don't expect much comments since only few would know how to use it in the first place

I keep having the app close on me when I try to open footnotes. When I try to go back to the Bible scriptures.

I also found out an android app that creates links to jwlibrary bible, in notes, just by writing the scripture (for example "Mt 24:14")

This makes me think that JWLibrary encription has already been cracked >> One more reason to not sideload any document into jwl

 

anyway the above app seems to be a great tool to make notes

The app runs in Windows, but the merged notes work on any device.

My brother tried using it and it didn’t work at first. He provided me a video of the process and I could see he didn’t add a space between the two file paths. After including the space, everything worked as expected.

The developer of the program replied to my issue and fixed the problem. After that I was able to merge two files. I didn't really try to use it afterwards. I'll try tonight.

 

What I found out is that you cannot merge the newly created file with another backup file.

Thats what I ultimately want, since I had 4 devices at one point, and I was hoping to merge them all.

 

I'll report that issue as well and see what's comes out of it.

Some exciting developments in these last few posts but I think I will wait a while. Hopefully the links-within-notes one will be officially supported soon. 

As for the merge-notes one, with careful organising it shouldn’t be needed:

Put on shoes, look in mirror, straighten tie, admire beard, sync notes, grab car keys.

You mean a newly created file that doesn’t contain any notes, highlighting, etc.?

And, are you saying that issue has been resolved, but currently not tested?

 

How does it handle conflicting highlighting situations, where both files may contain highlighting in the same sentence/word, but in different colors? Does one file have precedence over the other or does one color have precedence over the other?

I’d love a feature in our notes where we can click on a note in our Bible, for example, and it will take us directly to a point in a publication. Lots of times I have a reference note in my Bible, but will also site within the note the publication where the point came from, which seems a bit redundant at times.

Having problems using the study bible when a second screen is attached to the laptop.  The app crashes when trying to use the bible.
