Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

My tablet is running JWLib very slow changing from scripture to scripture. Also during the change it takes a few precious seconds before the words finally come up. Before the latest up date I had no problems.

We were having that problem for quite some time before the update so we updated our quad core tablets to octacore tablets and the problem was solved.

My pure Google nexus 10 and 7 2013 edition are doing well. Glad I don't have tablet with some manufacturers skin on the os.

I've never heard of octacore tablets. Are they new?

It is Samsung's newest in it's tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 The Octacore Processor is the same as 8 core or so I am told.

The Samsung Note Pro 12 that we looked at come with 2 quad core processors but was told that is slower than an Octacore Processor according to the Samsung rep at Best Buy.

I have gone to a Samsung tab S2. This is oct core. It has NO delay when choosing songs in the library. My old pad sometimes waited until the second verse before the song showed up.

My Nexus 7 2013 overclocked to 1.7MhZ (quad core) is doing excellent job.

The truth is that the app is becoming resource hungry. It won't run smoothly on just about any device.

I have been thinking of buying a Samsung Galaxy S2 because of the octocore.  I'm currently running a Nexus 10 which surprisingly  (like Ashley's) isn't lagging too bad.  As old as the Nexus 10's are, you'd think you'd have more problems with them.  I have noticed that the JWApp is absolutely carnivorous when it comes to RAM usage!  The problem I seem to be having currently is that I can only have the JWL app open and no other app's if I want things to run smoothly and fast.  If JWL is closed then I can have several other app's open and running.  Moon Reader and JWL at the same time cause glitches (restarts and refreshes) and slower time in both app's.

I don't know if I would recommend the older nexus 10. The mfg will not allow marshmallow to be installed on it. (unless one maybe jailbreak it) For me it does well. I use it mainly for meetings - not for ministry or anything else just for Kingdom Hall meetings and some home Internet browsing.

I haven't really looked for a 10 inch or larger tablet. I would recommend one that fits in budget that offers as many processors available, largest ram you can afford and if possible one with expandable SD card memory.

Yes, I've noticed that Android Marshmallow is not coming to my Nexus 10! That is why I'm considering a new tablet.  I like the Samsung GS2 because you can expand the memory with an SD card, it's extremely responsive and it appears it can handle JWL just fine.  Samsung's displays are awesome too.  I only use my tablet for meetings as well, but when it all of sudden shuts down on it's own in the middle of the Watchtower study or song, it can get a bit annoying.  I can go through the processes and close them seperately everytime, but who wants to go through that everytime you use your tablet?!!! JWL definitely puts your electronic devices through it's paces!

Still love my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition with 32 gig and a 64 gig SD card.  The updated JW Library has slowed it down a little but it's still WAY faster then the Asus Transformer Prime I had. It has a Exynos® 5 Octa 1.9GHz Quadcore and Android 5.1 Lollipop. I moved JW Library to the SD card and I have downloaded all available publications including movies (but not the broadcasts, I just watch them) and of the 60 gig on the card i still have almost 42 gig left.  Everything else is on the internal memory and of that 32 gig I still have 18 gig available.  If I had to buy a new tablet again I would absolutely buy the Galaxy Note 10.1 again.

Sister Tammy, can you use the JW Library app and a pdf reader (like Mantano) side by side? I always wanted that feature. Without it being jailbreaked.

That is the same one I have. I too have had no issues. I mostly use an iPad because of eQuipd, but the Note for personal study, videos, etc. It also has a nice graphing calculator I DLd.

I wish I could put Jwlibrary in its own window on my Note.

OK, so the multi screen only works on a few Samsung designated apps?
