Drugmakers are rushing to create and test a coronavirus vaccine. Here's how they're doing it -^

"The National Institutes of Health has partnered with a Boston-area company, Moderna, on a vaccine targeting the novel coronavirus. A Pennsylvania biotechnology company, Inovio, also secured a $9 million grant from Norway-based Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations to develop a vaccine. The company already is developing a vaccine for Middle East respiratory syndrome, or MERS, another type of coronavirus."

These deaths could have been easily avoided if the children had been given flu shots. But the coronavirus doesn't have a vaccine yet.

I cannot get the vaccines due to low immune system (last time I got one, I ended up getting majorly sick and that was the last vaccine.) The nurses here said that Just because you get a vaccine for the flu doesn't mean it will be for the strain that's out. If they discover a different strain has emerged, then you have to turn right around and get another flu shot for that strain.

And 1/2 of them are dud vaccines lol.

What I find interesting is that you can catch the flu twice now, so immune systems are definitely going downhill... No immunities. I just wonder what will happen if the coronavirus merges with the Type A flu or another virus, will it mutate into some super virus?

I'm starting to believe this is bigger than we think, although I swore not to get caught up in pandemic panics ever since swine flu, ebola and what have you.

The extremely indirect proportional growth of the official number of infected and death toll, as well as the draconic reaction by the Chinese government, combined by the historical fact that such regimes tend to downplay such numbers, leaves me with a queasy gut feeling that this is going to get worse until around until end of February at least.

The mortality of this virus doesn't seem to be all too high as opposed to Ebola and seems to be in line with an ordinary flu. But it is the extreme infectiousness including the ability to transmit between animals and humans that makes it so dangerous. I'm thinking that an extremely oppressive regime like China can implement extreme measures to rein in the danger, something cities like Berlin or New York will have trouble doing.

Yup, flu shots are equally as harmful as potentially beneficial as opposed to measles or polio etc. where the benefits far outweigh the risks. I knew so many people that contracted a flu or pneumonia after a flu vaccine. I don't know a single person who told me they regularly get the flu shot and don't get sick.

" -^ Well, both my wife and I get a flu shot and do not get sick from it or contract the flu, although she did not get a shot last year and didn't get the flu either ( she stays in the house mostly) of course we do not work so aren't around as many people, except at the meetings and know of several of the friends who will come to the meetings sick, maybe not with the flu but are coughing or say they were feeling sick that day but went to work then made the meeting.

This just popped up in my subs. N95 Respirators (not basic face masks) are apparently 80% effective when used properly, but only 50% of people use them correctly. Using them wrong carries the same risk as not using one. Also, they inhibit oxygen, and are for one time use only.

Just went on Amazon, to see what they carried.  Here is a review on a mask that is similar to the one in the video above.

3M Particulate Respirator 8233, N100

Best Respirator Mask in the Disposable Line of Face Masks
By SurvivalGeek on Nov 21, 2017

Hi,

This disposable 3M 8293 P100 mask is amazing. It blocks all foreign odors such as stinky, musty, moldy odors and tobacco smoke smells (and more).

For starters, all disposable mask work/seal best on a clean shaven face (no mustache, beard or side burns). If you have facial hair, you will never get a good fit/seal when wearing a disposable mask and/or half mask respirator. If you don't have a correct seal, the mask will not do its job as advertised (another reason why soldiers are not permitted to have facial hair). The facial hair rule is mentioned a lot in 3M's online safety documentation.

Secondly, according to 3M, a medium sized mask/respirator fits 80% of humans. If your nose is too large/long, try a larger mask. Test out the seal at your local store that has a garden center that sells plants/fertilizer. You will know you have a good fitting mask when you can't smell the plants/fertilizer. Do this first before wearing the mask in a hazardous situation/area.

Thirdly, the World Health Organization (WHO) says that in cities with poor air quality, that a mask with a PM2.5 rating must be warn to protect your lungs. PM2.5 masks protect people from breathing in particles (particles in the air) that are larger than 2.5 microns. This mask protects people from particles 0.3 microns or larger and makes almost all smells/odors undetectable to the human nose.

If you are traveling outside the US (or live in a smog plagued city like Las Angeles, CA) then, a P100 Mask is the best form of protection to protect your lungs.
It's best to carry a few of these P100 disposable masks while traveling in other countries and to store opened masks in an air tight, resealable plastic bag (like a ziplock) to increase the life of the mask (an air tight plastic bag protects the mask from absorbing odors/moisture).

This mask works best with DEWALT DPG82-11 Safety Glasses (prescription eyeglasses friendly). I own a pair of these safety glasses and I wear them over my prescription glasses comfortably without my prescription glasses fogging up due to the comfortable foam seal that travels around the frame of the safety glass lens).
These can be found on Amazon for around $11 (see Amazon product title below):
DEWALT DPG82-11 Concealer Clear Anti-Fog Dual Mold Safety Goggle.

Bottom line: The 3M 8293 P100 Mask is amazing and is a great addition to bug out bags and emergency/survival kits in your vehicle/boat/motor home.

Also, they block out stinky poo gas odor, urine odor and decomposing flesh odor (like dead animals found while fishing/hiking/camping).
They are great to use while cleaning homes/businesses or using the restroom after someone else.

I use these masks from time to time in moldy/mildew infested environments and I breath clearly without any issues.

If your prescription glasses are fogging up, pinch the bendable metal strip (hard/firmly), within the mask, that rides on the bridge of your nose (above your nose just below the center of your eyes) to prevent warm, humid air leaving your lungs from fogging your glasses (or use this mask with the Anti-Fog Dewalt DPG82-11 Safety Glasses). If your glasses are still fogging up, pull the mask off your face about an inch and pinch the bendable metal strip, within the mask, before lowing the mask back in position over your mouth/nose for a better fit. The metal strip should form over the bridge of your nose and fit snug on the sides of your face below your eyes.

Hope this helps others out.

Note: I wrote this review without pay from anyone because I like how much this mask helps me out. I didn't receive anything for recommending the Dewalt Safety glasses either. This review included my personal review and facts from websites such as 3M (the manufacturer of this P100 disposable mask and WHO (The World Health Organization).

****************************************************************************************

The above statement was from the person who purchased this mask from Amazon back in 2017.  This is on Amazon today.  Not sure if price is for 1 mask or a box of them.  But like the N95, it also works against particles up to 80 percent!  Friends, these "doctor" mask's are not cheap.  The hospital buys them, hospital's get a discount but you and I don't.  Some stores that sell masks (like above) like the cheap y ones, are price hiking because of this virus that has mutated from SARS1 to SARS2.   I can't afford this mask, some are washable, and others only contain 10 masks in a box.  You can't wear the same mask the next day, then what?  You run out, you stock up?  If you have $$$ you can buy as much as you want. But if your low income like some people, it's a death sentence.  All I can say is that we do the best we can, for us who love Jehovah and worship him, stay close to him and congregation. Wear what you have or can afford.  The outbreak of this disease is no different then the flu that comes around every year in different parts of the world and countries.  Some strains are light others are heavy, this year in China, the strain is very heavy and it's spreading worldwide.

Yeah, but somehow, I doubt that the Chinese government is making such a huge and expensive fuss over something trivial if you know what I mean.

More than 2,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed globally - the vast majority of them in China.

Health officials are also continuing to track down approximately 2,000 people who have recently flown into the UK from the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak.

Good grief!  Wuhan gets a LOT of visitors from the UK!  :(

Amazon sells that JSP mask.  You have to purchase the filters separately.

Very pricey.

I'm in Ireland not the UK ... but it could spread anywhere!

Yes the initial mask was expensive but the filters are not too pricey here... I deal with very fine dye powder and these masks are the only ones that offer full protection for me

Stay healthy as well 😘

The number of dead climbed to at least 80, while in the United States, five cases were confirmed.

New infections in the United States were found in people traveling from Wuhan. In China the tally jumped to more than 2,700 cases.

Here’s what you need to know:

The death toll rises to at least 80, and Wuhan may have 1,000 more cases.

A fifth U.S. case has been confirmed.

‘The epidemic has entered a more serious and complex period.’

Hong Kong bars residents from the center of the outbreak.

China halts the trade in wildlife across the country.

Americans in Wuhan will be evacuated to San Francisco.

Global concern grows as the outbreak spreads.

Just saw a picture on news of HomeDepot and they had N95 Masks ready for sale.  This type of mask runs around 30.00, but since this is currently becoming an epidemic in one way or another, the prices are jumping higher.  Just like when an area is hit by disaster, the price of gas and water shoot through the roof. Price gauging.  You can see big business does not care for other's lives, as long as they can make money!

Coronavirus 4%

I found this number, too, but it can not be correct. The amount of deaths are always calculated against the number of infected. But for the over a thousand that were infected in the past days the deaths have yet to occur. Simply dividing the number of deaths by the number of infections is a common mistake that the media make during the outbreak. I would imagine it is more around 6-9%

In the UK it is estimated that an average of 600 people a year die from complications of flu.

In some years it is estimated that this can rise to over 10,000 deaths

but no lock-down of Cities or stamping Hospitals out of the ground in 10 days.....
