No, they are not the same.

 

Chairing: 

 

1) act as chairperson of or preside over (an organization, meeting, or public event).

 

2) carry (someone) aloft in a chair or in a sitting position

 

Example:

 

Sitting: 

 

1) If you are sitting somewhere, for example in a chair, your bottom is resting on the chair and the upper part of your body is upright.

 

Example: 

 

So, when @Sofia said "Bro Sanderson is chairing", I take it to mean that he is the host.

Can’t wait to watch it. But have to do this afternoon after service. How wonderful to be kept informed about the goings on around the world and what our dear friends are facing.
