I can't even start to imagine what it would be like to get killed in a fire. It reminds me of the Grenfell tower disaster in London last year.

This is so heartbreaking :crying: I just looked at the Wikipedia list of Californian wildfires in 2018 and I can't believe there were so many. Some are not even reported in the news much.

We can only pray for our brothers and sisters and those other poor people who have lost everything. It must be so difficult!

This California fire thing is almost too much to bear. It’s like when I feel happy, or good, I feel I don’t have that right.

I tell myself that it all will be over soon. No more deaths from fires.

My sister and my niece and nephew were killed in a house fire in 1972. This has left a mark on me, regarding fires. This is grim, but true. The kids were in a closet. Sue had thrown a chair through the window to get some oxygen? Or escape. I don’t know. But, this I do know. They died instantly. And, not from being burned up. Sue had a smudge on her face. Not the kids. They died when the oxygen burst into flames.

Thats the thing I tell myself. They died quickly. This I still tell myself about those who have died in this Catastrophe. The ones who died, died quickly.

My heart just hurts. We keep posting pictures of loved ones, still missing. Desperate family. And, it is taking forensic specialists to even identify remains as human.

As I have said before, if it weren’t for Jehovah...I just couldn’t take it. But, we hang on. Just for a little while longer.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

With two threads with the same title and on the same topic I am getting a little

I apologize, I believe I started both conversations.  This one was simply about the news reported on our website.  The other one was supposed to be focused on the special meeting that was called to comfort the brothers in the disaster zone and the help provided by the US branch in sending a branch representative to speak and console them.  I put it under the meeting heading because of that.  I was hoping someone might add to the meager information about the meeting and the speaker (not necessarily about the fires themselves.  If we have drifeted off target, I apologize.

The local news reported that some of the lists at the shelters were being consolidated and reconciled..

I just listened to an interview on npr with Joshua Johnson. He was interviewing a man named Brian Dubois. Some of his terminology about his large spiritual family makes me wonder if he is a brother. Anyone know?

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

Sr, Donna...I think Sr. Dawn was referring to the one being interviewed, called "Brian Dubois".  He vaguely sounded like a brother but could just as easily been a member of a church group with regional associations.

In case this was not mentioned - an interesting tidbit:

Quote

How did California's most destructive fire come to be called the Camp Fire?

Butte County's deadly Camp Fire was named after Camp Creek Road, the location where the fire started.

Wildfires are often named after their places of origin. For example, last year's deadly Tubbs Fire was named after Tubbs Lane in Calistoga.
