The Mysterious Coronavirus Spreading Worldwide

Recommended Posts

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan just sent me a Coronavirus kit.

The kit contains a washable mask, a refrigerator magnet, a window sticker that says: This House Practices Safe Distancing

(I didn't even know houses could get the Corona virus :D )

And a pack of disposable thermometers.

Anybody else get a Coronavirus kit in the mail today?

Something odd is happening. Despite easing restrictions, people becoming more "careless" (i.e. returning to previous social norms) and major demonstrations and churches and mosques and schools re-opening, the case numbers are dropping sharply here in Germany.

I personally am starting to believe there is a genetic marker or something connected to this issue that hasn't been discovered yet. They are learning more and more about this virus and how to treat it... I read a claim by a physician yesterday that Chloroquin has killed a large part of the Corona patients that died because of a known genetic marker, some kind of enzyme deficiency that 1.7 billion people worldwide are attributed with. Particularly darker-skinned people. Don't remember the details but that would explain a lot, for example why Russia has so few deaths and Brazil so many.

Well, I read the article linked, and the Italian doctor was sharply rebutted:

https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2020/06/01/world/asia/01reuters-health-coronavirus-who-transmission.html

But here is the issue with the rebuttals as I see it. A doctor repeated this on a local show here, that Italy allegedly found evidence it was losing strength. He immediately said "it doesn't matter if its losing strength or not, we must keep our guard up".

So I am just suggesting that the medical community here is either showing caution or obstinance. Most doctors are rightfully urging caution and skepticism. Claiming this thing is losing strength when it isn't is not only irresponsible, but dangerous. But refusing to acknowledge its losing strength when it is, is also irresponsible.

I hope these claims are totally investigated.

Both can actually be true. As the virus differentiations may produce many very weak and very strong strains that only need to find a new population.

Here is why he is reporting it this way:

A viral load refers to how much of a virus is present in a sample taken from a patient. Scientists still aren’t sure whether higher viral loads correlate with more severe coronavirus cases. But twostudies published in the journal The Lancet suggested that on average, people who developed more severe respiratory issues linked to COVID-19 had higher viral loads when they were first admitted to the hospital than people with mild cases.

“In a situation where the numbers of severe cases are falling, there may be time to start observing people with less severe symptoms – giving the impression that the virus is changing,” Martin Hibberd, a professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, told the Italian news site The Local.

In March, Italy’s number of new cases confirmed each day hovered at about 6,500. The country’s healthcare system was strained, so, in general, only patients with the most severe cases were admitted to the hospital. But at the end of May, the number of daily new cases had dropped to about 300.

That may mean that more Italians – those with milder cases – were able to seek care, which could explain the lower viral loads in swab tests overall.

“It may not be that the virus itself is becoming less potent,” Ryan said. “It may be that we are – as community and as a global community – successfully reducing the number, intensity, and frequency of exposure to the virus, which, on the face of it, the virus then looks weaker.”

George Floyd had coronavirus, autopsy says
The 20-page document released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says that an April 3 test on Floyd was positive for the virus’ genetic code, or RNA.

George Floyd, whose in-custody death in Minneapolis last week triggered an avalanche of protests over the mistreatment of black people by police, tested positive for coronavirus weeks before his death, an autopsy report released Wednesday shows.

The 20-page document released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says that an April 3 test on Floyd was positive for the virus’ genetic code, or RNA.

Seems like some encouraging news on battling the virus.

Either the virus has burnt through the population and killed those prone to it, or the virus has some kind of self-destruct mechanism... it's so weird.

What would have been interesting is to have those 10 million people (wow, what a lot of testing) tested for antibodies.

I'm just waiting for the second wave... With all the protesting people are just like "what virus?" ... Bad idea.

Well don't hold your breath. We've had protests in Germany for weeks, nothing big is happening, cases keep dropping. Not saying it won't come..  but it certainly seems now that there IS a summer effect.

There are many protests in US and in London  as if theres no covid19 virus out there.

Its like a zoo out here.  Curfews have been set in place in New York and in surrounding boroughs.  People don't care, they violate the curfews creating mayhem.  The more the governments prohibit the people the more wild they get.  Its almost like they want this.  The looting is amazing. It has nothing to do with the protest but, people have broken into stores, banks, grocery stores, jewelry stores and wiped them out clean.

The WHO has had to revisit the use of Hydroxychloroquin  . The previous study concluded it was ineffect And dangerous. My facility saw no problems and probable benefit to its use in our patients. The VA still uses it despite the WHO wArning.  Now it has been uncovered that some 100 doctors are citing major problems with the study the WHO relied upon. So , as per usual .  .   .

I want to be cautious and not go where there are large crowds, but it would be nice if things could calm down enough to be safe to maybe have 2-3 friends over to watch the broadcast or Convention programs with ❤️

Even Hospitals are being hard hit. Believe it or not.

Hospitals in Germany are predominantly empty and waiting for "the big surge" that simply never came... a lot of doctors and nurses have been placed on a sort of special part-time gig that costs the unemployment offices vast amounts of money, many vital operations and diagnostics are on hold... and the joke is that the number of positive tests pretty much corresponds to the error threshold (1.5%)

In the past 7 days, we have had one (1) positive test in our region with 220.000 inhabitants... please don't believe for a second that everybody, particularly young people here, are taking all this social distancing super serious.. there is something very, very wrong about all this and I just can't figure it out.

We are seeing much the same although you wouldn’t know it from watching the news.

It seems the corona virus is slowly becoming a thing of the past even when numbers are going up.

Another peak: 100,000 cases now reported every day.
This quote from NY Times

Coronavirus cases are growing faster than ever around the world, driven by emerging outbreaks in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Thursday, June 4, 2020 1:46 PM EST
The coronavirus pandemic is ebbing in some of the countries that were hit hard early on, but more than 100,000 new cases worldwide are being reported each day.
Twice as many countries have reported a rise in new cases over the past two weeks as have reported declines, according to a New York Times database
