That reminds me of my ethnic Indian friend who went with me to north India (New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) some years back. I was quite surprised when I saw her fished out of her suitcase: a hardcover Bible, a big hardcover English dictionary (duh!), vegetables she brought from Malaysia (carrots and cucumbers) AND a piece of plank to put on the bed. Talk about packing the kitchen sink. And I thought I was the only one who didn't know how to pack light. 

 

Tip : there were many porters at the Delhi railway station who will enter the coach to help people bring down the pieces of luggage from the overhead racks and then up and down the metal staircases, all for a pittance. My friend would haggle the price down to local rates and I would quietly pay extra behind her back. Needless to say, the weight of her suitcase was more than 10 kg. Amazing how strong the porter was to carry both big suitcases on his head. He is going to suffer back problem when he gets older.

 

 

 

Which brings me to the subject of strange things that people bring along on for a short vacation. I should start a new topic.

This is spinach that's going to seed. I love to let food plants go to seed to see what the bloom looks like. These stalks have fuzzy things between the leaves on the stalk, interesting!

I'll take another pic when it actually blooms.

There is a new app called FaceApp that seems to be taking many parts of the world by storm. Last night, I gave it a shot just our of curiosity. I took a picture of myself from two years ago when I was a bit leaner and applied "woman" effects to it. So below is a rendering of what I would look like if I were a woman. Most effects of the app are amazingly realistic. So here is the female me.

I don't even know your male you and you show me your female you!!! I have to wash this image from my brain now

 

A couple of day ago there was an image on facebook saying "I must have slept for 30 years because I woke up and all my facebook friends were old!"

  Just remove the make-up, long hair and make the skin look a bit less smooth and you will basically get the male me. 

 

Yes, I did the old age effect too. Jaw-droppingly frightful. It made me look at old age and death differently. It must be even more scary for worldly people who have nothing, but old age and death in the future. 

 

A few media outlets, including the Guardian, have done reports on the app's privacy, saying it is OK.

Thinking the same thing, heard a warning about this app. So much fraud today we should be more cautious.
