"Stand" by E.K. Jonathan

Recommended Posts

Well, I purchased "Stand" from Amazon and just read it on Kindle.

Brother Jonathan did a nice job of wrapping all the loose ends up.

IMHO shipping all 8 million plus of Jehovah's people to a single place on earth

still 'jumps the shark' for me.  But, hey, it's like he says, it's only fiction and considering these

fictitious  accounts helps us to keep our minds focused on the events coming in the immediate future.

Better to contemplate spiritual events--be they real or fictitious--than to contemplate the fleeting,

meaningless things of Satan's system. :D

Potential Spoiler Alert

Spoiler

Not really a spoiler but a question that may in itself contain a spoiler:

What happened to Darren in Stay? Last I recall his wife died when she had a tantrum and got out of the car.

Im up to about Chapter 8 of Stand but still no news about him. Just wondered if he died in Stay or something and I forgot. Or do I need to wait bc I just haven’t got to his part in Stand yet?

Just finished. Read the final 15 chapters in one go. Phew!

As someone who read Critical Times but has otherwise not followed EK Jonathan’s writings closely, discovering the Flee series only about a month ago was perfect timing as I havent had to wait too long as both the first two books were already out and I only had to wait a few weeks for the release of Stand. His youtube channel which I have started going through has been very interesting.

Spoiler

I’m so happy for Ted. I think of all the characters I liked him the most and seeing his story come to the happy ending was nice. Also the hint at Marcus Kelly being the angel to protect Peter was a nice touch.

We should invite EK to this forum

He commented somewhere that he sometimes reads the posts here but feels no need to join.

Sounds like the perfect cover for someone already here but not wanting to draw attention - just kidding about that last part ;P

I finished already and this book specifically seems to spark alot of imagination. One thing I learned from his book is while evacuating millions of witnesses and tagalongs seems contradictory and illogical, however there is nothing impossible for Jehovah to do and we should expect the unexpected but maintain our faith and love among ourselves.

No spoilers intended and pls enjoy your reading 🙂

I've just completed "Stand" and to that I say: "Wow!" The trilogy of this series comes together like a long-awaited pictured puzzle with all the pieces fitting  together quite nicely.

An excellent read!

Yes that's annoying, no one knows what happened to Darren...I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book and I still think that Critical Times is the best one

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

If you recall, Rita met an "untimely demise" and Darren had no choice but to leave and find his way to New Orleans. Admittedly, I would like for EK Jonathan to give an explanation for this glaring omission in one of his future podcasts.

Correct, some stories are best left untold.

Just finished Stand! What a great read. One thing I've appreciated about the series and Critical Times was that they both had somewhat of a different ending. I went into it thinking I knew how it might end but was pleased that it was different from the other.

Just the mind this brother has to capture his imagination in words. Oh how I wish I had just a small percentage of that trait.

I enjoyed Critical Times the most too.

The FLEE characters,  namely "Darren and Rita" is a FAQ on his blog and here's EKJ's response to everyone's concern:

Quote

Yes, I left the end of his story open-ended. I did this for a few reasons. First, he and Rita were no longer central to the story: the protection of the faithful ones and the gathering forces of Gog of Magog. Secondly, leaving their fates unwritten seemed appropriate: in the future, we will likely find ourselves in situations similar to Peter and Rachel and the others. We may not know exactly what happened to certain ones, and will have to wait on Jehovah and trust that his judgment is fair and just.

[unquote]

NB: I'm glad he expounded on this matter because, like others, I was wondering also.  And it does make sense when you think about it.
