JW Broadcasting and JW.ORG Websites Merged

This is nice but I thought, according to brother Lett at last years annual meeting, these changes were supposed to have been here a long time ago. Were there other changes made that I missed?

Sometimes the brothers just announce upcoming changes a long time ahead. Some things require serious testing and a lot of tweaking. Some things that are in the pipeline will not be public for another 10 years.

Sorry, I don't think I have ever downloaded anything from WOL. I didn't even know that was possible.

I always downloaded all publications from JW.org.

The book study took 8 years to be apart of the midweek meeting. Instead of being at someone house.

There should not be any reason for the Roku and Apple TV apps to be discontinued unless it is costing us (The Organization ... not us as individuals) to have those services available.

Oh I really hope they don’t discontinue the Roku! I use it a lot.

I think it shows consideration that this welcome for visitors says that for publication downloads we have to go to JW org..Publications were never available for download on WOL..Some visiting WOL may not know this. I agree..it is amazing to see these changes before our very eyes!

Friends, the changes made will only affect the website. The apps for our devices should still work as normal as the changes made only affect where the videos are coming from. That's all done behind the scenes. No one is canceling or discontinuing JW Broadcasting.

Nothing new there. Publication downloads has always been in jw.org.

@Brother Brother You are making a big confusion with this "downloads in wol thing"

As of now there is no change in respect to WOL

 

It was already linked from JW.ORG 

It never allowed downloads

There has always been a link on jw.org for wol.jw.org, but just less visible. At the bottom of every page on jw.org, you see this:

I think you may have misunderstood something. No one could ever download anything from WOL. Downloads have always been only through jw.org. The note you mention on wol.jw.org to go to jw.org for downloads is new, but nothing was changed about functionality.

 

In a more general note, this reminds me of the 1990s. There was a time when watchtower.org was the only official website for Jehovah's Witnesses. It was only later that jw.org was added, which included the ability to download publications, something that could not be done from watchtower.org. Then, jw-media.org was added for journalists, and at the beginning it was almost unknown to rest of us. It was only in 2012 that all three sites were merged into jw.org. But that was before WOL and JW Broadcasting were even heard of. This merger we're experiencing now looks like a repeat of what happened in 2012.

You're right! They have disappeared completely, along with the old Sing to Jehovah songbook with orchestral accompaniment.

 

They're still around though in the archives of brothers and sisters. Anyone who wishes to re-listen to those oldies may send me a PM.
