The developers - Pfizer and BioNTech - described it as a "great day for science and humanity".

Their vaccine has been tested on 43,500 people in six countries and no safety concerns have been raised.

The companies plan to apply for emergency approval to use the vaccine by the end of the month.

There are still huge challenges ahead, but the announcement has been warmly welcomed with scientists describing themselves smiling "ear to ear" and some suggesting life could be back to normal by spring.

I believe last I read, travel bans, and repeated lockdowns might end with a vaccine available, now a vaccine will soon available, and they're already introducing a new goal post.
If anyone thinks life will return to anything near pre-pandemic conditions any time before the great tribulation or possibly even Armageddon, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Well, 2.2% is better than the 4% it started at - although UK is still 3.8% - maybe it depends on how full the hospitals are. Sadly it's still what .... 40 times higher than the flu - awful!

 

We just need to keep listening to the slave: wear a mask, physical distance and wash our hands regularly (use hand sanitizer if soap and water isn't available) and stay away from other people not in our immediate household IF possible.

 If you think a negative test result means you don't have coronavirus, you could be wrong.

It can take days before a new infection shows up on a Covid-19 test.

"We know that the incubation period for Covid-19 is up to 14 days. And before that, you can be testing negative, and have no symptoms," emergency medicine physician Dr. Leana Wen said.

"But you could actually be harboring the virus and be able to transmit it to others."

"You can get infected by just a few viral particles, but these will not be detectable until they have time to replicate to adequate levels to be detected,"

To be specific, it's just a curfew on retail businesses.  Factory workers will still operate 3rd shift.  Restaurants are allowed to stay open.

Most of these businesses were already closed, anyway.  I'm not aware of any place that was staying open past 10.  Even Wal-Mart was closing overnight.  Our grocery store in town closes at 9.  There weren't masses of people out shopping between 10pm and 5am.  Alcohol sales were already restricted with no sales after 10pm.  

 

The biggest impact will be on Black Friday.  No opening the store at 12:01am for massive savings.  

 

Other than that, I don't see what this order is doing, changing, or preventing.  Most everyone was already home or in bed by 10pm.
