I am printing up the notes I took on these four things and intend to re-read them EVERY DAY...perhaps even more frequently.

 

Four Things That Can Help Us To NOT Be Terrified by the Events in Eastern Europe

 

 

1.  Remember why Jehovah permits our brothers to be affected by war.

Meditate on how Satan taunted Jehovah about how Job, and all humans, only worship Jehovah for selfish reasons.  We can keep our integrity and prove Satan a liar.

 

2.  We need to be realistic in our expectations.

Recall that Stephen and James were executed.  Christians left everything behind when they fled Jerusalem to escape the Roman army and certain death.  Has been repeatedly occurring since 1914. Yet our brothers and sisters have been successfully handling these stressful circumstances.  All evidence that Jehovah will SOON intervene and put an END to ALL WICKEDNESS.  Remember, in Matthew Chapter 24, the disciples weren’t asking Jesus when will things get really bad, they were asking him when will all these really bad things END.

 

3. This is an opportunity to show our trust in Jehovah.

Experience of couple in Japan who ‘thought’ they knew what it meant to trust in Jehovah.  After experiencing a flood, they then ‘knew’ what it meant to trust in Jehovah.  A missionary said, “It’s not until your back is against the wall that you see Jehovah’s hand.”  Keep Isaiah 30:15 in mind.  “Your strength will be in keeping calm and showing trust.”  Have absolute confidence that Jehovah knows our brothers’ needs and will care for them.  2022 Year Text:  Psalm 34:10 “Those seeking Jehovah will lack nothing good.”  When it comes to our brothers and sisters being directly affected by the war, we are like caregivers who are deeply concerned for them.  Jehovah gives his holy spirit according to the actual need.  So we can rest assured that Jehovah is providing our brothers and sisters in Eastern Europe just what they need at this time.  Remembering this will help us to cope with our concern and anxiety.

 

4.  We must remain neutral.

Many news reports are designed and slanted to motivate listeners to take sides.  We do not take sides.   We need to safeguard our minds and hearts, realizing that ALL human governments will SOON be replaced  by God’s Kingdom.  We know that NO human efforts can bring about true peace and security to the earth.  ONLY God’s Kingdom can and will do that.  We must devote our hearts and minds to THAT kingdom.

In less than two hours of the decision, it was announced on jw about the return to face-to-face meetings, practically in real time!

This was probably a test if we need to announce something urgently we will know immediately!

I appreciated Brother Jackson's reminder, at the 12:40 mark, "Jehovah gives his holy spirit according to the actual need." I've always thought that was a point we sometimes forget. We may worry about being in a possible scenario during the GT, being anxious wondering if we would be able to remain faithful at that time. But that is putting that situation out of our immediate context where it doesn't apply. Of course we worry about it now; we don't have Jehovah's spirit to support us right now! We don't need it right now, because we're not in that situation. It's when we are in that situation, when our "back is against the wall," that we see Jehovah's hand because he is providing the necessary spirit to support us. Maybe we can endure 10 times the amount of persecution when we have Jehovah's spirit holding us up. But we worry about it when we don't have that spirit. He only provides his holy spirit when there is a need for it, not when there is no need.

Oups! The numbers are going up quickly. Brother Jackson said 32 brothers and sisters had died in Ukraine. He said that was "as of April 18." But the update on jw.org says 34!

It does remind us all to check the JW.ORG at least daily if not more often (and/or our JW Library app).  During my Field Service program this morning, one of the sisters says she doesn't really check the web-site even weekly unless I send the group a text about changes and updates...😃
