Your gut’s trick for controlling the bacteria that live in it
palmhat and 2 others reacted to retroHelen for a topic
I have been reversing the effects of Type 2 diabetes with the help of new research on the diet against leaky gut and the new microbiome research. Neurologist Dr Perlmutter, has been lecturing around the USA and been referred to by doctors here in UK with the latest news on how the gut bacteria produce enzymes and neurotransmitters that alter messages to cells and genes. Good gut bacteria build up tissue and fight disease, but if we don't eat a balanced diet according to how our bodies work, then certain bacteria; fungii; virus overgrow and make us sick. This science is so new, that the levels of what is good and what is bad is not yet fully understood. Enough to say that it turns the old 'germ theories on their head. Overuse of antibiotics has made us unhealthy in the West. Also, some of what were once seen as enemy bacteria, turn out to need to live in small numbers in us for our health, but eating too much of say sugary things or wheat makes the small numbers proliferate to dangerous levels and disturbs our digestion = dysbiosis. I have listened to some interesting online Functional Medicine webinars on the subject of Gut Health beamed out from USA around the World online on the latest findings. 120,000 of us listened to a Gut health webinar last month and learned so much about humans as living with more DNA of stuff within us than there is of us. Sadly. despite the amazing evidence that we are symbionts = live by relying on other living things and they are relying on us/how we carry a 'gut garden' of ecological diversity around within us that needs tending - which would prove we could not have developed by chance mutations/evolution or it would not work - These scientists still stubbornly cling to evolution. Except Dr Eric Zeilinski, who does acknowledge how wonderfully we were created by God: David_Perlmutterglutendiabetes.pdf3 points -

I can resist. Replace the fowl bird with pork cubes, then I will eat it. In fact it does not even have to have pork. A nice veggie curry mildly hot works for me. Got used to it in late 80's when did some work for some Sikhs. Don't forget the roti ( chapati ).3 points

A 72 year old man had one hobby - he loved to fish. He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, 'Pick me up.' he looked around and couldn't see anyone. He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again, ''Pick me up. ' He looked in the water and there, floating on the top, was a frog. The man said, 'Are you talking to me?' The frog said, 'Yes, I'm talking to you. Pick me up, then kiss me; and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I'll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous, because I will be your bride!' The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully and placed it in his shirt pocket. The frog said, 'What, are you nuts? Didn't you hear what I said?' I said, 'Kiss me, and I will be your beautiful bride.' He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, 'Nah. At my age, I'd rather have a talking frog.' With age - comes wisdom!3 points -

Hi Ann, I can see it's something you have checked out, and especially as there are some items of jewellery that can fall into the spiritualistic aspect, it is good to re-examine how we are going at times. I think the picture of the bracelet is lovely, of course without the cross as you said. We don't attribute anything spiritual to the colours of the stones, just as Sheila pointed out. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2012922#h=3:550-3:1109 - Exerpt from this article is interesting: Professor Harry Y. Gamble wrote about “the magical use of Christian texts.” He noted that in the third century, Church Father Origen suggested that “the very sound of sacred words in the ear is somehow beneficial: if words have power in pagan magic, how much more powerful must be the truly divine words of scripture.” John Chrysostom of the late fourth century wrote that “the devil will not dare to approach a house where a Gospel is lying.” He also reported that some hung excerpts from the Gospels from their necks as a powerful amulet. Professor Gamble further noted that the Catholic theologian Augustine “considered it permissible in case of a headache to sleep with a copy of the Gospel of John under one’s pillow”! Thus Bible texts were employed for magical purposes. Would you consider the Bible to be an amulet, or a good-luck charm, that could protect you from evil? And you are not doing this, so no worries So go ahead and make beautiful bracelets without apprehension. So long as it is just as a piece of jewellery, and not as anything mentioned in those articles, then it's fine.3 points -

The gut and brain are linked. Because of leaky gut syndrome we have a lot more mental issues to deal with than 30 years ago. We shouldn't drink coffee on an empty stomach. It damages the lining of the gut. Which is not good for our health.2 points -

The thing about the world is they look at it thru the eyes of not having faith in Jehovah and think these persons were doing their own will and it just turned out well. No clue that they were being directed by Jehovah. When ever they did their own thing it usually never worked out well.1 point

https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22930564-900-your-guts-trick-for-controlling-the-bacteria-that-live-in-it/ THE bacteria living in our gut may have powerful effects on us, but we aren’t entirely at their mercy. We now have the first evidence of the mechanism our bodies use to keep these microbial hangers-on in check. There are a lot of microbes inside us. Although the idea that we contain 10 times as many microbes as cells of our own was recently debunked, it is still likely that we have a roughly equal number of each, prompting the question of how we stop our guests from misbehaving. Shirong Liu and his colleagues at Harvard Medical School in Boston may have uncovered how. They discovered that cells lining the gut in mice and humans produce short strands of genetic material called microRNAs. These strands can get inside bacteria and switch on certain genes, which encourages the growth of specific types of bacteria. Mice that produce fewer microRNAs in their gut have a more diverse microbiome, and are more susceptible to colitis – inflammation in the lining of the colon (Cell Host & Microbe, DOI: 10.1016/j.chom.2015.12.005). The team suggests that gut microRNAs have evolved as a way for us to shape the community of bacteria living inside us, and specifically nurture the ones that help us prevent disease. “The concept is interesting,” says Tim Spector of King’s College London. “This emphasises our symbiotic relationship with microbes.” The microbiome is already a target for medical researchers looking for ways to prevent disease, through diet or perhaps drugs. MicroRNAs designed to enhance or suppress specific bacteria could be a powerful tool, Liu says.1 point

How to make a nifty bird feeder out of a recycled coffee can: Components: empty coffee can two plastic lids a wooden dowel or small tree branch a piece of nylon cord Start with an empty coffee can: Remove label and bottom of can: Find the second lid Cut half moons in the two lids, run the nylon cord through the can and tie it, hiding the knot in the can Place the lids on the ends of the can with the nylon cord on top, align the half moons and make little slits in the plastic lids to run your dowel or small tree branch through Shove the dowel/branch through the slits (takes some shoving, but you want the perch to be attached really tight) Should look like this Put a knot in the cord, as close to can as possible, for stability (make sure knot is in the middle of the can, for balance)1 point -

A popular german islamic preacher postet once on his facebook page: "Are you as active as the Jehovahs Witnesses who have training once a week how to preach? Who are going from door to door every day or standing in the city to proclaim their faith? How often have you tried to convince someone of Islam? How much money have you donated to invite people to Islam? The Witnesses donate every month for their publications. We should be the most active!" Pope Benedict told his cousin, who is our sister, once: "You are doing the work that we should do. You have halls that are not too big, but they are full. We have cathedrals, churches, chapels and they are empty." At the World Youth Day 2008 was a call: "Bishops urged pilgrims to “discover a new apostolic zeal to witness more fully the Gospel in the modern world.” Pope Benedict XVI exhorted pilgrims to become “a new generation of apostles,” and on another occasion he urged them to spread “the Good News among their friends, their families, and all whom they meet.” Many pilgrims echoed the comment of two teenage girls from Texas, U.S.A., “The only ones who witness where we come from are Jehovah’s Witnesses!”" - g 6/09 S. 24-27 This 3 examples are a great sign that our work is not in vain. Other religios leaders see us as an example! The big difference between our and their work is, we have Jehovahs backing.1 point

I have always wandered about the charm bracelets and I even asked a couple of elders and even some sisters. What's the difference in wearing a charm on a bracelet and a necklace with a shaped pendant? Aren't pendants and charms basically the same thing? The elders told me it was a conscience matter just like paisley patterns, pinatas and windchimes lol The scriptures admonish to question whether these things are so. And it's good that you asked before doing something. Jehovah says those that those go to spiritual ones for direction are showing spiritual progress.1 point -
Crystals are crystals and colours are colours. The meaning of colour is hocus pocus dreamed up by the airy-fairy people to make money. Green for grass, blue for heavens, black for death? Good grief, I'm sure Jehovah didnt have these things in mind when he created rocks. Does this rubbishy bit of paper mean that the next time I wear my black jeans, black earrings, or even a black ribbon I'll be asked if someone in my family has died? And by wearing my favourite red dress, does that mean that I'm declaring I love food? Rip up that paper and bin it. And that little cross is called a 'charm'. By attaching one of those little bitty things to a bracelet, the bracelet then becomes a charm bracelet. And that is an absolute no-no. I'm actually staggered by the number of sisters that wear them, even though we've had counsel about not just charm bracelets, but toe rings and slave bracelets that are worn around the ankles. At our Conventions and Assemblies the brothers give the sisters a quick once-over to ensure they aren't wearing any of these things before they go onto the platform. There is nothing wrong with making jewellery from crystals, we have several in our congregation who do so, but if you run with the colour theory and chat about it to buyers, well, you are then moving in the wrong direction. No offence Sister Ann, but I'm surprised you had to ask this question. You obviously a doubt in your mind. There is an old saying "If in doubt, don't". It's good, and works every time.1 point

It's interesting to note in Isa 40:22 it says There is One who dwells above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He is stretching out the heavens like a fine gauze, And he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. We read about the fabric of space /time and that the universe is constructed in a grid-like pattern. https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/galex/pia14094.html Kind of like gauze, don't you think1 point
