Four brothers were given 3 x 5 years to be served concurrently at 5 years 6 months.

The remaining brothers and sisters were fined 60000 to 70000 roubles (around AUD$1450) each.

Jehovah give them comfort and strength.  And our prayers added.

The issue I see here is the suspended sentences but a probationary period of 5 years added and

$1400.00 dollar fines..

So if I understand it correctly if they are under probation they can get yanked in anytime to serve the sentence..

Interfax-Religiia, 30 November 2015

A court in Rostov province issued a guilty verdict against 16 persons in a case about the activity in Taganrog of a prohibited religious organization and enticement of minors into it, an official representative of the district prosecutor's office, Oksana Sukhareva, told Interfax on Monday.

In addition, they drew minor children into the banned organization," the news agency's source said.

The court sentenced three organizers to five and a half years suspended sentences and a fourth organizer to a suspended sentence for a term of five years and three months. Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

I noticed on the About Us page of jw.org it features "Why Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Maintain Political Neutrality? " and the subheading "Are they a threat to national security?"

If JWs are an extremist criminal group, then what on earth is ISIS?

Also part of the "crime" is the enticement of minors".

"The judge immediately suspended the sentences. None of the defendants will go to jail or have to pay fines for now. However, we await details as to what the suspended sentences will mean for our brothers and sisters in the future."

"We will appeal this verdict to higher Russian courts."

"As admonished in 1Tim.2:1,2 Jehovah's Witnesses around the world pray that the authorities in Russia will allow the congregation to go on living a calm and quiet life with complete godly devotion and seriousness. BUt no matter what happens we will never renounce our faith or stop worshipping Jehovah merely to appease any local authority. PLEASE KEEP OUR DEAR BROTHERS IN TAGANROG IN YOUR PRAYERS!"

Very nice! It looks like the judge made a politically correct move and got the hot potato out of his hands...

It is the 5 year probationary period that concerns me...

Is it like if you still break the law we will exercise our right to control you for 5 years... Still a criminal record.. Cases were not dismissed...

Suspended sentences are good. From forum18.org they are treating the friends around Russia very badly. Definitely keeping they in my prayers.

I see it posted but it will not connect for me.  Does anyone have the direct link?

I just saw another link to it above the one I posted.  I tried to copy the link from JW.Broadcasting, but I guess it didn't take.  Go to JW.Broadcasting and it should come up.

Wow! How strengthening to see this information immediately after the verdict.  The brothers in Russia will certainly be in my personal prayers as I imagine they will be for all of us who read jw.org and watch the broadcast.

Would it be appropriate to put up this link on facebook?  I would like my children who are not in the truth to see what is really happening to our brothers in other parts of the world, and that freedom of worship is involved.  I hope that they can see this can happen anywhere if we are classed as "extremists", as they know having been brought up in the truth that we are anything but extremists.
