2002 China SARS-CoV-1 and 2019 China SARS CoV-2 a/k/a COVID-19 (just like Middle East MERS) all originated from a horseshoe bat genome but each virus includes pathogens from a different (or crossed) species.  In other words - in MERS bat bit the camel - in SARS-CoV-1 bat bit the masked civet - and in SARS-CoV-2 bat bit the snake or Pangolin and some how jumped from animals to humans, according to scientists.  In the case of SARS CoV-2 (or COVID-19) humans ate an infected snake (a delicacy in Whuhan) or in the case of MERS direct contact with camels.  All these are known Coronaviruses, among four others.    

It's very difficult to put any faith at all into any Media reports these days when they all report the deaths of Coronavirus(es).  There are seven strains of Coronaviruses which had been killing folks way before the novel 2019 COVID-19 was even discovered.  Seems CDC is lumping all type Coronaviruses together and not specifying which deaths were specifically attributed to the novel COVID-19 virus.

I figured that they are right wing. But I didn't know they spread antivaccine messages as well.

I appreciate that the brothers haven't said anything on jw.org about the validity of the virus. The brothers have told us two things that we should keep in mind. Dont believe everything you hear and do what the secular authorities in your area tell you to do.

 

So it doesn't matter what the media says, it doesn't matter what the actual source of the virus was, it doesn't matter what the actual death count is. We are being told to currently follow the directions of the local authorities and focus on spiritual things.

Hello Lucy.  Looks as though we seem to be saying the same thing.  The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is called COVID-19", according to LiveScience Magazine.  "COVID is short for coronavirus disease" and 19 is the year it was discovered.  I'm not here to argue with anyone.  I simply made an innocent comment in an attempt to be part of this discussion.   Many of us here also have family members in the medical profession.

Deaths – 1,281

 

There are 46 reported cases in the Upper Peninsula: 21 in Marquette County, 9 in Delta County, 4 in Mackinac County, 4 in Gogebic County, 3 in Dickinson County, and one each in Schoolcraft, Menominee, Houghton, Chippewa, and Luce Counties.

 

With 6 deaths.

Perhaps you are correct and simple semantics being interjected.

I also think it’s important that coronavirus is a genetic term that includes a family of viruses CDC.

So basically, SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that can cause COVID-19 disease.  In the case of HIV and AIDS, HIV is the virus that causes AIDS and Rubeola is the virus that causes Measles disease.  People often know the name of the disease and not the virus.  In the case of COVID-19 folks tend to call it by the name of the virus.
