  1. "A good life is made of good relationships". That's the conclusion of an in depth study made over generations. The biggest factor that makes a rich life, love.

We didn't need an extensive study to come to that conclusion! We are emcompased by love! How blessed we are!

  2. “We become what we think about”.

I just came across this quote. It was referring to becoming successful entrepreneurs.

But, I love it for us! True, we can’t actively serve Jehovah as much as we’d like, but where is our mind and heart during those, “down” times? And, we have so many wonderful things to think about. And give thanks to Jehovah for.

    I woke up this morning!

Such a beautiful meditation.  I was thankful I woke up this morning, and I was thinking I needed to change my occupation because it left me with nothing to give Jehovah.  I'm in a down time, but my thoughts are looking upward <3 Thank you for this, its given my heart some happiness.

Cerebral Ecstacy, glad I was able to be helpful. You can never have nothing to give Jehovah. The best you can give him comes from your heart and not your material means. Keep in mind Proverbs 27:11.

Somehow, I missed this. I’m hoping things have turned around for you. I know. Life can be a pain. Sometimes.💌

  3. CO's visit. Daily, he is using the time before we go out to show us features on our JW.org. Now if I can remember...so much. But we have found out if we don't use an electronic devise, we are not in tune with current teachings. Insight Book way out dated. Pretty soon, no CD's. Very expensive to make, and so many languish in our Kingdom Hall library, unused.

Well, here is something encouraging to think about - we have a 92 year old sister who doesn't want to be left "behind" and she is using a tablet at the meetings now for everything!  You know she had to practice at home and patiently have someone teach her - but there she is along with the rest of us keeping up with all the changes!

I think it would be useful to have "classes" in each congregation for those afraid or apprehensive of using smartphones and tablets, it might a lay their fears and help them make that jump! I have "mini" classes before and after every meeting for anyone who wants to learn.  And I've noticed some have totally stopped carrying paper publications now. (They used to bring both tablet and books and if things got too difficult they would resort to the books. )

You can type in the search box, and type in tutorials, and all that he shared with us is there. Of course, my keyboard went flat, needed charging, and I could not get the other one up, but, it is there. If I am not careful, I am pretty intimidated by it all. And, I am not good at snooping around as I should, while at home. Pretty soon the videos that we see at the meetings should be there. Online. And the CO and his wife use the study edition (Matthew) for family study. Will search and see if I can find what he showed us.

  4. CO’s visit. A couple of things. “Blood card”? Nope. That is what the Red Cross issues to have typed your blood. What we have is a, “medical directive”.

Also, a strong reminder on copy rights. The JW.Org pins. Unless you got one from the governing body, (they own the rights, thereof) or specific permission from the organization, all those pins, and the cute Caleb and Sophia whatever, unless...violating copy rights. Plus, we have three apps, and three sites. Period. If we download anything not from the society, who knows? Some apostates, sneaky.

Great information. Especially about the (a-hem) blood card information.

  5. A magazine’s adventure. Years ago, I was in Pierre, South Dakota. They had literature in the Lakota language. I had to have. Just one. I ended up giving it to a brother I knew would appreciate it. This was many years ago.

This last Wednesday, we had visitors. For our meal after service. They were the friends in a video. Blackfoot Tribe, from the Blood Reserve in Canada. They are speakers of their language, and are helping with translationing of literature in the language they speak.

When they knew we knew of a magazine in the Lakota language, they were interested. As I live and breathe, the sister of the husband I gave it to, went to their vehicle, and fetched it.

That magazine is on its way back to Canada!

I pick it up in the mid nineties.

  6. Am on a learning curve. Found out a medication I take for GERD, (bad acid reflux) can be damaging to the kidneys. Really damaging. So, I have to try to correct the problem with diet and natural remedies. Not fun. Oh, for the new system.

My wife was addicted to stomach acid pills for many years. When she stopped taking them, she had the worst phase of indigestion ever. She still has problems because of her reflux and indigestion to a certain degree, but much much better than the first half year. Depending on whether she thinks she has too much acid or too little, she takes some sort of alkaline salt pills or sips apple vinegar soluted in water. Not really ideal but, in my opinion, better than medication that totally screws with the hormonal balance in your digestive system.

      Miss Bea

I agree. I think those pills were doing damage to my kidneys. So, I will have to watch my diet, ( sort of a new concept) and try vinegar, soda and honey. He had something in there about milk and 7-up I think, that sounded vile. But, I have

to try something different. It has been the third day without the Prilosec, so it is early. But I will be thinking twice about what I put in my mouth! Right now a strict diet of very little food sounds pretty good.

My husband and it talked about it. They want us to eat what we want, and treat the symptoms, rather then really help us to address the cause, rather then treat the symptoms. And that surgery is serious...

  7. Another theocratic milepost for our little congregation. This week end, the 24th, is our first online circuit assembly. Yes, it’s online, but we have been encouraged to sit down, and enjoy it as we would have, sans this virus. On the 24th!
What a joy. To be at the assembly, in spirit with our dear brothers and sisters. Yet, in the comfort of our own home.
Six months ago, I would have thought my mental senses had left me, if I imagined such.
    And, yet...

Jehovah has almost reached, literally into our homes. I know. I know. But, for some of us, it can be a hard concept. At times.
For some of us, it is a gift of unmeasurable value.
I remember the feeling when a brother first gave that prayer, yes, on Zoom, but in my own home. I was able to say, “amen”, to a prayer, by a brother, comfortably, in my home.
For me, nothing short of a miracle!

I miss singing in the middle of the congregation, though. I do wish they would allow the volume to stay on during the songs so we can hear everyone singing again.

Um, not me! I sing terrible, but I love to. I’m one of those who just can’t stand still. Lr, for that matter, sit still. It’s like when I’m in my car, going through beautiful scenery, singing to Jehovah!

Plus, I’m using headphones, so as to not disrupt my husbands, day, or evening. I cannot fathom what he would think, me, singing away, totally enjoying myself, and, what is coming out of my mouth?
Let’s say, I do sing at the hall, I find someone who can sing, and, try to harmonize. Quietly, but, not in my heart!
Other then that, my singing is between me and Jehovah !

Singing in a group harmony is even more beneficial. So sing away or singalong with the JW vocal song. Or any silly ditty. It will do you a lot of good.

  8. As I read the account of the new COBE among us, and my statement, “Jehovah knows best”.
Long ago, when we had the CO, and the DO, and, rarely they would visit our congregation, well, there they were. And, we were meeting for service. Me, shaking in my boots, thinks, if I go alone, I will get put in a car with one of them. My smart solution, ask someone to go with you, that day. Two of us. I relax, and off I go.
Well, I got taken care of, good and proper. Me and my partner were assigned in a car group with, yep, the DO, and the CO
I thought different in those days. Now I take the CO’s wife on calls with me. (Um, used too)

We have a small congregation, and, it is our privilege to get to work with the CO, his wife, and, elders on a regular basis.
But, I still laugh at how Jehovah showed me who was in charge, long ago.
I love our little congregation. Jehovah has absolutely been there for us. It’s a marvel when you see it with your own eyes!

      Friends just call me Ross

I was working with our CO's wife one blustery Spring day.

But that turned out to be the least of my worries.

It was really REALLY windy, but not cold.

So I hadn't bothered to wear a coat.

Hard to hold down your skirt while trying to share a Scripture

at the door.  :D My presentation was...interesting. :D

I was so nervous about my skirt flying up in my face

that I forgot who I was working with.

Traded one nervousness for another. :D

Oh well, we had a wonderful day in service

and I learned to always wear a coat on really windy days.:D

Our visiting CO and his wife were from San Diego. Very laid back and mellow. Young--early 40s. A sister was driving and we had alot of lake call properties. The sister asked the group meeting for coffee break who would like to go with her on her 'dam' call.😀  not damn call.  When another sister quickly tried to explain the co 's wife smiled and calmly said 'I just figured she knew them better than we do."

      🙃😂🤩

  9. Assembly time yesterday. Wonderful. However, I will be so thankful when I return from a spiritual event, just invigorated. And not tired!

  10. Been fighting depression. I’m on the uphill swing now. (Yes, it’s bad enough for me that I take medication)

My point is, none of us ever know what, down deep, we are all going through. Except Jehovah.
It was harder this time. You know what you are supposed to do Dragging myself to the meetings when I’d just like to stay home, in bed, was, easier when that meant going to the Kingdom Hall.
Now, it’s too easy. It’s a matter of not turning the computer on.
To be honest, it was scary. The first thing I think is, “Have I done something g to offend Jehovah?”  But, if I keep on keeping on, (no matter what I think, or feel) I eventually surface on the other side of whatever I’ve been going through.
I mention this, because I suspect there are a lot of us out there.
I know we are I am never alone, but, for little snippets of time, I may feel like it.
Thanks for being out there, Dear Family. ❤️

I’ve got a wonderful life. A good husband, three kids I dearly love, you folks out there, and most all, Jehovah. It’s nice to be able to remember these things.

And, that is what depression does. You forget to recall the good in your life, and that joy is gone. Like an empty ballon.

      Then, miracles of miracles...

      Its all back!

So, so true.  When your up, your able to remind yourself about the good in your life, when your down we need others to remind us of the good in our lives.  How precious good friends are.

  11. Been rough. I do okay until my theocratic life and personal life give me real stress. Things of concern going on at the hall, and, someone abandoned a family of cats below us. Four kittens and mama. Came upon them two weeks ago after the meeting. Mama and one of the kittens socialized. We got them and took them to the shelter. Yesterday, we did a grab and cought the one we will add to our home, (deformed hind leg, vulnerable in the woods) and yesterday we caught both of the last two in a live animal trap! I know. Both of us know there are humans in bad shape too. But not almost on our property! We will tame the two down and take them to shelter when we have them a bit socialized. It rained last night, and at least I did not wake up worrying about them. (As soon as they stopped nursing, they were dumped) Just little kittens..

At the hall, things I just have to get past. With Jehovah's help...as I said, been rough.

A sensitive brother, indeed! I feel for all; that's why I most usually avert my eyes, but the ones that really rip my heart out are the deer.

I'm right at 61; hubby few yrs. younger, but has some health problems.  One is high blood pressure, does not and doesn't want to take meds.  He is taking herbal supplement, Hawthorne Berries, but I know he's not taking enough.  We will be going to Alt. Dr. (Finally talked him into it; why do men hate going to the Dr???)  Told him HBP is not be played around with.  ANYway, point I was trying to make is that if something happens to him, I would not be able to take care of all those cats, because, for 1 thing, I would have to move, can't take care of big yard/house alone...and then it would break my heart to have to leave those cats.  Maybe  Armageddon will comes 1st. but even so, that's  gonna be bad enough.  Oh we SOOO need Jah's Kingdom; it can't come soon enough!

Sister Bea, I responded back w/a 2nd comment  approx. 10 hrs. ago; I do not see it now and I don't know what  happened to it.  When I submitted, it showed it was "waiting for approval."  This has happened several X now.  When I check back later on a forum I commented in, I will see that someone responded to my comment, but I wasn't notified. I  go back to the forum (or where ever I commented), just in case, to make sure I don't miss someone's response.  I am not receiving most notifications,  just a few here and there. I did explain this to one of the moderators, but haven't heard back yet.  "Maybe" that comment is *somewhere in the system.  Hopefully find out soon. :)

Sister, I think the system is, well, “showing itself”, today. I’ve been busy, and opened it up to 37 notices. Mostly status updates. Some a couple of years old.

When these things work, it’s wonderful. When they don’t....

  12. Being invaded. Again. We were going to have the  beans that my husband cooked for dinner today. His sister texted. She’s on the way with a prime rib roast. Neither one of us are thrilled. Now, we are the old ones where his family ends up on these days. At least no meetings today. He was sort of speechless when I went out in Service on Friday, last month. Still had company. I missed the meeting, cooking. I wasn’t going to miss Service for them to eat leftovers. On to another day, soon to be over...

( My husbands not in the truth, and I’ve escaped the nonsense, now, this..)

  16. Car miseries. New, (last year) Subaru Lagacy. It leaks. As in soured back floor carpet. Subaru has taken responsibility, finally, but it is still a hassle. We have a rental now. And I hate driving someone else's car. Even a rental.

    1. Good-O

      Good-O

I am so sorry to hear this.  I know your misery.  We had a car that did that and found out on our way to a summer convention when we went to a car wash.    We had to go to another place to have the water sucked out.  It was parked outside in the bad, rainy weather all three days and stayed soaked.  The smell!!!  The mildew!!!    We took the car back so many times and the company would not make it good.  Finally we sold it and bought another car.  The company was kind enough to give us a vehicle, at no charge, while they tried to repair the problem and yes, I was very uneasy about driving their car.  Hope you are over this very soon.

    2. Miss Bea

      Miss Bea

Thanks. Yes, mildew. They replaced the carpet, and blamed us.. Plugged up moonroof drains. 'Twas a process, but we proved them wrong. They are paying for our rental. And consumer advocacies (?) has taken over. Our third Subaru, and this is the first real problem. But the headquarters has been really responsive about this. I can't see it coming out with us really happy, but it is a step...

  17. Could not sleep last night. I plugged in my iPad, got the earphones out, and had a bit of a marathon. Our media on JW.org
I stumbled across something wonderful, (well, my iPad did) it was the 2016 regional convention. I got to hear, “Expect the unexpected”, and the closing comments of that convention. A real eye opener! I could almost see the end happen this week!
The reasons Jehovah brought the flood. Violence and unclean sex. I remember that. And that situation has, well, I think doubled down on itself.

    Exciting times.
    Way better then notes!

  18. Did you know, “trumpery” is an actual word? It’s used at Leviticus 261

In the Bynton  translation. Sorry for the spelling I’ve not yet found all my copies of various bibles. Again.

We were discussing it last night, and got a gentle chiding. “Now, now, let’s dredge up some honor for the king.”  Um, former king.

Sister Bea, My mistake - I did go to Apple store in Baton Rouge and the above was what I was told.  So, I'll go back once more.  Sorry for your problems; that can be frustrating!  In our service territory we have many 'dead areas', no matter what kind of phone you have.  So if it is an emergency, I tell my family what car group I am with and then they can call one of them, or text, hoping their phone works, when mine doesn't.  I usually call home several times to make sure all is ok.  Technology!

    3. Miss Bea

      Miss Bea

I live in an area with no cell phone coverage. The only reason we can use the cell in our home is my husband set up a signal amplifier. For bars in whole house. But not dependable. It’s contingent on the quality of internet signal. Which is sketchy. If we have an important call, we have had to get in the car, travel four miles or so, down the highway, to a decent signal. (There’s is a utility pole down there that someone has written, “cell”.)

      We have no landline.

The way it is. I was talking to a person about our lack of cell coverage, and the cell phone lady said they sold you a phone and you have no service there. Yep.

  21. Frustrated. The bank I’ve used for over thirty years closed the branch, nearby, but kept the ATM there. I went by yesterday, and the ATM has become a large steel plate! Period!

That branch was 45 minutes from me. Now the nearest is almost two hours from me.

I have to close this account. If you can imagine. I’ve been doing business with my husbands bank. Now, I need a routing number for my social security, and slowly figure out the many ways I’m using that account.

Yes, we have separate accounts...but, now, we will be using the same bank. I shudder at possible mistakes. No choice.

My bank branch closed, locally, a few months ago. I opened account with a different Bank. Have been trying to close the previous  (now out of town) acct. I have been on the phone for days and hours trying to accomplish this. Last month on the 28th they charged me, which rendered my account as overdrawn. Have spent four weeks trying to correct this, b/c they will not close account unless the balance is exactly zero. My current balance is $9 dollars and they are due for another fee tomorrow, which will put my status as negative again. They told me even going there will not straighten out the mess. This reminds me of the thought that mundane affairs can frustrate us, but these mess ups are not Jehovah's way. Sorry for what you are going through, MIss Bea, and for all others who are dealing with such worldly annoyances.

  22. Good times. We have 3 kittens in the downstairs bedroom. Sort of wild. We need to tame them for 2 of them to be adoptable. (Keeping one) So our extra time is spent hugging them. And playing with them.  Two now purr for us. One, "I will eat your food. And if you catch me, I'm good for a hug or two. Until I  escape". I listened to part 3 of the Annual talk with them. As I said, good times.

We love having kittens around. But they grow up and hang around for a good 15 years. With the new  addition, we are back to kitty population of four.

But, his precious, Ringo, got caught rubbing against our toothbrushes.    Mine is always covered  after that. How, most of the time. But, I just know we have shared their DNA, and probably on a regular basis. I Say it has enhanced our autoimmune system!

Now we added little Hop-along! Another 15 year assignment. I will be 88, still feeding the kitties. Perhaps!!!

Well, now, who knew good oi Bob does Christmas music?Yep. Here I am in that tube with little drummer boy in my ears! It was funny in an ironic way.

When I had an MRI...I planned on saying a long detailed prayer, taking as much time I needed to express myself.  Time flew by.  When they said I was done, I was a little perturbed as I wasn't done.  I really enjoyed my time with Jehovah.  (40 minutes total)

Hope it all goes well, Bea.  I think if I ever have to undergo and MRI, I'll do what Brenda did, good idea :)

  24. Help!
I need to find out how to print songs.I am going to do my level best to get some songs memorized, to sing to Jehovah, right after Armageddon.

Two sisters have joined me. (One, a bit hesitant) and the other excited.

What I would like help in is being able to print out words for songs.
Now, understand, we memorize them. Not sing them, except at meetings.
I thought this would keep my mind busy with good thoughts!

Do you have a list of songs you would like to print? Are you trying to print the music as well as the lyrics, or just the lyrics? I would be glad to help and with an extra bit of detail I can come up with a good plan to get you started.

The icons for selecting music/no music are on the top right of the page.

The Print button is bottom left of the page after the song.

That was happening to me after the Google Chrome update. I had to delete the app after I cleaned out all cookies. Then did a reinstall, refusing any updates.
