*** it-1 p. 415 Captivity ***

it was more than a decade later, in 617 B.C.E., that the first captives from Jerusalem were taken into exile at Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar came against the rebellious city and carried off the upper class of the population, including King Jehoiachin and his mother, and men such as Ezekiel, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, together with “the princes and all the valiant, mighty men—ten thousand he was taking into exile—and also every craftsman and builder of bulwarks. No one had been left behind except the lowly class of the people . . . Court officials and the foremost men of the land he led away as exiled people from Jerusalem to Babylon. As for all the valiant men, seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the builders of bulwarks, a thousand, all the mighty men carrying on war, the king of Babylon proceeded to bring them as exiled people to Babylon.” He also took much of the treasure from the temple. (2Ki 24:12-16; Es 2:6; Eze 1:1-3; Da 1:2, 6)

*** it-1 p. 576 Daniel ***

This was in Jehoiakim’s third year (as tributary king to Babylon), which third year started in the spring of 618 B.C.E. (Da 1:1) With Jehoiakim’s inglorious death, Jehoiachin, his son, ruled for a few months before surrendering. Early in 617 B.C.E., Jehoiachin and other “foremost men,” also young Daniel (2Ki 24:15), were taken into captivity by Nebuchadnezzar.

*** it-2 p. 326 Jerusalem’s Conquest by Babylon ***

In 620 B.C.E., Jerusalem was made subject to Babylon. (2Ki 24:1) Three years later, in 617 B.C.E., the Babylonians deported many of Jerusalem’s inhabitants—its nobility, its mighty men, and its craftsmen—and looted the city’s treasures. (2Ch 36:5-10)

Thanks. The 618 B.C. date of the "first exiles from Jerusalem" in the 1951 WT must have been revised since.:D

Over the years I have seen many pictures of the immense image -

I think this is the first time I have seen the dream portrayed when it was raining   and it looked to be quite a rain ... not just a drizzle

I did like the contrast between the size of the image and the man standing near the feet - I also liked the way he was thrown back when the stone hit the image.

Yes, placing Nebuchadnezzar right near the immense statue really helped to illustrate it’s size. Da 2:31 describes it as huge and terrifying.

He lights up my path.

Here is some interesting background information about the siege and the gold cup that Daniel sees fall out of the wagon.

Maybe FDS will show us that the cup will be used in part 2, Daniel 5:2.🙂

Yeah, I also noticed how it was dark. I think they did that so they could shine a light/isolate the different metals/kingdoms like they did.
Did anyone notice the feet were apart whereas they are usually together?

Well spotted, I was wondering what was the purpose of the scene (07:30) where the gold cup fell out and Daniel looked at it. Likely the sequel will be in part 2.😁

Dan 5:2 While under the influence of the wine, Bel·shazʹzar gave an order to bring in the vessels of gold and silver that his father Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his concubines and his secondary wives could drink from them.
4 They drank wine, and they praised the gods of gold and silver, of copper, iron, wood, and stone.
5 At that very moment the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and began writing

There’s also an interesting timeline on page 27 of the pure worship book, which shows that Ezekiel was also taken captive to Babylon in 617 B.C.E.
Did you notice in the drama how Daniel’s father told him what Ezekiel said about Daniel [Jehovah told Ezekiel that in his eyes you are as righteous as Noah and Job].(Ezekiel 14:14).  Wow.
Can’t wait to ask Daniel to confirm that one 🤔

I am reckoning that Ezekiel was about 10 years older than Daniel, what do you think?

the dream of the beasts in chapter 7

also the lions den.
and the writing on the wall.

I would like to see the dream of the beasts too but that won’t be covered in part 2 (see the program) The other things you mentioned will 🙂

According to the drama, it seems like that Nebuchadnezzar had his 2 visions after 607 BCE.

I thought it looked like the Image dream was before 607.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Daniel had a fair amount of of freedom to up and leave the King's palace (or wherever he worked) and visit his family when Jerusalem was destroyed.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

I felt deeply moved when Daniel s father told him that

Ezequiel compared his faithfulness to Noah and Job… EZ 14:14

i also cried… very touching!

This is the first time that I even heard of Daniel's father.  He must have been a remarkable man - they also didn't have Xerox machines then!!  Apparently his father copied Ezekiel's book or a portion of it, to give to Daniel!!

If we look into 29 minutes of the video, Daniel and has family talked about the destruction of Jerusalem, that would be in 607 BCE. Just after that scene, Nebuchadnezzar had his vision of the image.
