  1. I just went on the tours last month and, as mentioned above, a lot will depend on what interests your husband, but also how much time you have available. I'm sure your friends will have suggestions. JW Broadcast and JW.org have several videos that should help your husband decide where his interest lies. Perhaps you could preview them first. I remember one or two videos on the shipping system using the little computers on the brothers' arm, then I got to see them in action! Having watched the video on the Green Globe awards made me much more aware of my surroundings once I got to the facilities and made me proud knowing our brothers were so conscientious. There is even a video with Bro Couch about how the property was acquired. There are several on the Bible exhibits and how some of the Bibles were acquired for the exhibit. Personally, although I enjoyed seeing the printing facility and I appreciate how the system has changed over the years, it didn't wow me as much as the tours at Warwick. I LOVED the display of the History of the Bible. It gave me goosebumps to see Jehovah's name written in an original Bible that is hundreds of years old, and to see clearly how Jehovah sped things up in the 16th century when devout individuals from several different countries began to translate the old manuscripts into their languages..even risking death to do it. The display gave me a real heart appreciation for provisions we sometimes take for granted. Also in Warwick is a display on our recent history. Everything is self guided with a headset so you can go at your own pace. The little town of Warwick had some adorable shops and nice places to eat. OH! but the gorgeous original artwork at Patterson is breathtaking in person. If your husband loves art, he will be very impressed. If at all possible, try to go on the tour at the Metropolitan Museum. Specifically the "Woman and her Offspring" (www.Oasisgrouptours.com). The tour guide is a brother or sister. The theme is how Satan has clearly offered an alternative to the Offspring promised in Gen 3:15 from the beginning, however, the venue is a secular museum. Perhaps your husband will appreciate how much archeology supports the Bible. After the tour you can see the rest of the museum as well. Bottom line, if you can't do it all, I'd recommend Warwick and the tour at the Met. Have a wonderful trip. 🙂

  3. Trying really hard to refrain from adding my own sarcastic comments. https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/famed-naturalist-david-attenborough-warns-world-leaders-human-civilisation-could-collapse-ng-4d55eb49551f9612e575e0817e5ece73?utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PerthNow+PM+Update+4%2F12%2F2018 British broadcaster and environmentalist David Attenborough has urged world leaders, meeting in Poland to agree ways to limit global warming, to get on and tackle “our greatest threat in thousands of years”. “Leaders of the world, you must lead,” said the naturalist, given a “People’s seat” at the two-week UN climate conference in the Polish coal city of Katowice alongside two dozen heads of state and government. “The continuation of our civilisations and the natural world upon which we depend, is in your hands,” he said. The world is currently on course to overshoot by far the limits for global warming agreed in the landmark 2015 Paris accord on climate change, which were intended to prevent more extreme weather, rising sea levels and the loss of plant and animal species. The Katowice talks are billed as the most important UN conference since Paris, coming ahead of an end-of-year deadline to agree a “rule book” on enforcing action. Representatives of some of the most powerful countries and biggest polluters were conspicuous by their absence, and the United States is quitting the UN climate process. Michal Kurtyka, Poland’s deputy environment minister and president of the talks, said that without success in Katowice, Paris would not be a success, as it had only decided what was needed, not how it could be done. Moreover, the wider political environment had changed. “The wave of optimism and global co-operation that carried us to and through Paris has now crested, broken and is now tumbling,” he told delegates

  4. So! Georgie Girl. You have given quote to Sir Davids presentation. What now? Lets be honest. David has for more than many of us become so close to reality. Yes, even I have at times signed and said, no, no Dave. David has devoted his life to natural science. At times his documentaries have been dictated by program directives. David has for so long been torn by gainhing some understanding. Yes. All of this. The universe, planet earth, you and me. David has had this problem, dilemma. How could such a loving grand creator now over centuries of time, stand by and allow the world of civilization to become as it now is.

  7. David's right - the planet is doomed. But, hey, the powers that be and the ruler of this world don't care. They are the fools mentioned in Ps 14:1 The foolish one says in his heart: “There is no Jehovah.” Their actions are corrupt, and their dealings are detestable; No one is doing good. What kind of person is this fool, the man who denies the existence of God? He is not intellectually ignorant. Rather, the Hebrew word na·valʹ points to a moral deficiency. Professor S. R. Driver, in his notes to The Parallel Psalter, says that the fault is “not weakness of reason, but moral and religious insensibility, an invincible lack of sense, or perception.” The psalmist goes on to describe the moral breakdown that is a result of such an attitude: “They have acted ruinously, they have acted detestably in their dealing. There is no one doing good.” (Psalm 14:1) Dr. Hastings sums up: “Counting on this absence of God from the world and on impunity, men become corrupt and do abominable deeds.” They openly embrace ungodly principles and discount a personal God to whom they have no wish to be accountable. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1997721#h=23:0-26:567 As we know, truly no hope without Jehovah....

    A good joke

Crazy Blond A blond went to the Dentist. "I want you to paint my teeth blue." -the blond. "What!?" -exclaimed the dentist. "Just do it!!" - the blond. So the dentist painted her teeth blue. The blond went back to her car and called her friend to talk about many things. While she was driving a policeman stopped her. "Mam, you were talking on your mobile while you were driving. Here is how much you must pay." "Oh come on!! Don't you see I have blue- tooth?!"

  10. I realize that no one can see everything, but I will add my praise to the comments about the tour of the Metropolitan Museum "Woman and her Offspring". the brothers and sisters at Oasis do a wonderful job of giving us a detailed perspective of the history of the "Woman", "Messiah" and God's chosen people down through the ages. As seen through the relics and objects of archaeology and tying them into the pictures, drawing and references in our publications, you get a beautiful understanding of Jehovah's protection of the ancestral line of Jesus. I would take this tour if I could add it to the schedule. Another thread here on the forum asks about "life changing", however. I would say this tour is "Faith Affirming" for sure.

    Migraine

I have a long history of migraines. I don't get them nearly as much as I used to, but they would incapacitate me when I had them. I'm pretty sure, even though I never got an official diagnosis, that I have had CVS (cyclical vomiting syndrome), and migraines or other things that would make me dizzy and weak would often trigger horrible bouts of nausea and vomiting. Idk if this would help others, but these were things that have helped me at times when I suffered from this. I've learned to listen to my body and when I'd feel a migraine coming up, I'd completely avoid coffee. If I really needed the caffeine, I'd get it in migraine medicine or a cola. That might be just a me thing since coffee can be hard on the stomach. I would rest as much as possible, and soak my feet in hot water, put a cold compress on my head, and listen to relaxing music. Putting menthol on the head helped me whenever I had it. I like this menthol roll on. It feels so nice on anything that hurts. I'd also eat something cold like popsicles, or drink cold carbonated beverages and eat crackers, but that was more for the nausea. I'd just lay down in the dark all day with something cold on my head and try to rest it off

  15. It looks like a heated mirror is just a nice feature to have, but not necessarily necessary. I've never had a heated mirror and have gotten by okay. I mean I live in the south, where, when it snows, we don't drive haha. Maybe it makes more of a difference further north? Also, like TonyWenz, I glued my mirror to my car. I used gorilla glue, myself, which I wouldn't recommend in a place that gets really hot, because that kind of glue stops sticking in the heat, and you keep having to reapply. I agree repairs on your car can be a bit of a rip off, which is why I had to teach myself how to make a lot of minor repairs, myself. A lot of young women, either feel limited or think they shouldn't have to learn how to do repairs on a car, but I disagree. I feel that if you own a car, then it's a good thing to learn as much as you can about it. I mean, you shouldn't necessarily feel obligated to fix your own car, but it's definitely a good money saver. I'll be honest. A lot of small repairs/maintenance things I"ve done, I haven't necessarily found as fun, and some were really intimidating to me, before I delved into it, but I think that money being saved or another month of not having to pay a note has been totally worth it.

  16. Wow Ekran's talk was on point for sure. How to deal with persecution and lies. Something I've always made a point to practice as he stated: Remember what you KNOW about your brothers. What you KNOW is the measuring stick for determining the truthfulness of something we may hear or read.

  17. It is the atmosphere (which will be present in all the sites) will leave a powerful impression. The friendliness to strangers is unsurpassed, especially considering this is powered by love, not money. My thought would be to do the Bible Tour. It has an interesting history, which subtly unlines Jehovah manoeuvring matters for us. It should build his confidence in benefits we can enjoy now, and what is promised for our future. Heb 4:12 comes to mind. You will see how the whole organisation is built on these Holy writings, and 'feel' the love it fosters - first-hand! (I'm a little jealous, but I'm more excited for you. Agape!) Older {waiting for wiser} [emoji1353]

  19. I like to keep up with current events and find a scripture that relates so I'm prepared when a householder brings up the subject. BUT, I can only take so much of it and then I go to JW.org or the broadcast to "cleanse my palate" before I do anything else. If the world's news is the last thing I hear it can ruin my day. It makes my heart go out to those whose only hope for the future is a corrupt politician, material possessions, or a survivalist compound. Oh, and the expression "baby bump" has been so over used it drives me bonkers.

I listen to a sports podcast and one of the co-hosts wives thought she was of Italian background & was very proud of her background and was never shy about representing her heritage. She decided to do the DNA test and turns out she was only 10% Italian and 90% Irish [emoji38]. According to the co-host she was so upset she actually started to get depressed! 34. Pedophilia should be of greater concern, I would think. Immorality (including homosexuality) are abhorrent - but they are not the same problem. Among other things, homosexuality does not address the issue of the females being abused 😕 And all gay people do not molest children.

  35. I've just been informed by Social Security that I am no longer considered disabled according to their rules and will lose all support in a couple of months. I've never worked in my life, never able to maintain a strict schedule or cope long term with the chronic pain, irritable bowel and insomnia. It always inevitably leads back into chronic depression and mania. I can do a little, but then I have to follow up with resting for a day. They don't have a majority of my physical issues on file from doctor's reports which is a problem, as I was considered disabled for mental issues... but they were caused by the physical issues in the first place, just haven't been able to find a doctor who understands or properly tests for them yet. Of course, one should expect to read such a letter on one's anniversary of baptism, amirite? (Luke 22:31) “Simon, Simon, look! Satan has demanded to have all of you to sift you as wheat. I just wanted to say that I love this forum and am thankful for the time I've been able to spend with everyone I've met here. ❤️Before I inevitably regress into insanity and say and do things which I will surely regret.

The brain is more than 70% water so it is vital to drink plenty of water through the day. Wonderful for migraine or pain of any kind is ginger root. Take a big toe size piece and chop it up and put in a medium pan of water. Simmer for about 30 mins and drink lots of it through the day. (Don't add sweetener) Chewing a fresh piece can sometimes relieve symptoms immediately. Ginger is also wonderful for circulatory problems and nausea and many other things.

Once we followed the pioneer meeting with a dinner invite. A 28 person sitdown meal. The elders served the pioneers. After that we had too many pioneers to serve at our house. I like to think that the word got out and that is why so many joined the pioneer ranks. Here is the invitation that went out. (Sorry for the duplication, I have no idea why the PDF menu printed twice. I tried to clear the editor with no success.) Dinner.pdf

    My DNA

I have a couple of naughty peeps in my ancestry, too. The crimes they got 6 months in jail for back then would be laughed out of court these days. How degenerate the world has become. If you were to start doing your family tree, you could well find out a lot. It's amazing how many distant cousins we all have. I 'met' one of mine who lives in Mexico because I bought a book from Amazon that a mutual ancester wrote, and I left a review. She came across it and contacted me. Her 2x great grandfather is my 3x great grandfather so we are 4th cousins. I knew that some ancestors had gone to Mexico but never expected to meet a relation on Amazon. There are many free sites that you can start researching on, you don't have to pay for a subscription initially though later on you would probably want to.

I used to make gift bags for the pioneers when I was one myself. Nothing too fancy just, like, stuff pioneers would use a lot down here in ministry like sticky notes, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, pens, etc. They were typically well received.

  44. I think the biggest thing you could do is to offer to go out with them in service, so they never have to work without a human partner. (They always have angelic companions. ) I also think that handing out gift cards for the local gas stations would be helpful to their limited finances. Praying for Jehovah to help them 'fully accomplish their ministry' couldn't hurt, either. That way, they would be supplied both physical and spiritual fuel. I am sure that no matter what you decide to do, they will be so happy to see that they are appreciated.
