"The Undecided" A Book By Thomas Walker
Hope and 5 others reacted to Thomas Walker for a topic
I'm happy to report that thanks to you guys, all three of the 'New Earth' trilogy, are currently in the 'Top 100' in the 'Christian>Future' Category at Amazon. A small pool, I grant you; and the number will drop out of sight soon enough, but it's still nice to see.6 points -
JW Library on Samsung Galaxy S2
rocket and 5 others reacted to Justin Bailey for a topic
Hey I think I may have found a solution!! In the Google Play Store, if you go to the JW Library App and check more information, there's a bit about how the highlighting problems is a known issue. I attached a screenshot. It seems the problem is being caused by a Chrome update. I uninstalled my Chrome update and it seems to have fixed the problem! To remove Chrome updates, this is what I did (although steps may differ depending on your device): -Go to Settings (swipe down from the top of your screen and tap the Gear icon) -In the list on the left, tap on "Apps" -In the list on the right, find and tap "Chrome" -On the top-right there should be "Three Dots" icon. Tap on that and tap "Uninstall updates" -Tap "Yes" or "Ok" and Chrome will uninstall its updates. I suppose you can just uninstall Chrome altogether to avoid this. But I use Chrome a lot so I did it this way. Note that your device may still automatically update Chrome, thus causing the JW Library problems to reoccur. If you want to disable Chrome from automatically updating itself: -Go to Google Play Store -In the Search box, search for "Google Chrome" -Tap on the multicolored wheel icon that represents the Chrome program (it should be the first result in the search) -On the top-right there should be a "Three Dots" icon. Tap on that and uncheck the box called "Enable auto update" Now Chrome will not update anymore. Of course, once the brothers fix the problem with JW Library, you may want to re-enable Chrome's auto-updates. In which case, just follow the same steps above and enable the check box "Enable auto update". Hope this helps!6 points -

We were able to book our round trip flights from New York to Paris for $580 each. That was WAY better than I expected. We have saved up airline miles on our credit card, so our flight from Albuquerque to New York and back won't cost us anything. So thrilled that our itinerary is completely booked and set! Now it's time to cut down on eating out.3 points

It's that time of year where porch pirates abound. You know, the person that pulls up in front of a house and grabs a recently delivered package. I hope no one here has been victimized by a porch pirate. I'm wondering if Amazon will eventually offer to include a GPS tracker in your order for an extra fee. For example, for an extra $5 they include a transmitter in your box, if your box arrives safely you put the transmitter in a prepaid envelope and mail it back to them. If they dont receive it back within a certain time, they charge you for it. When they ship your package they email a tracking code that you use on a site designed to track their packages. Once the package is delivered to you and its logged into their system as being delivered, you get a text notification if it moves from its last location. That allows you to track the package to your porch and track it if it unexpectedly moves. If you receive the package, you confirm you received it and the transmitter stops sending any notifications. Does that sound feasible?2 points

Sr. Gloria, when you open the app and click on the Bible (holding it horizontally might help in "landscape mode). Do you see the language choices in the upper right corner? The language icon is a rectangle with the letter "A" and a foreign letter. It is between the "bookmark" ribbon icon and the "history" clock icon. Click on the language rectangle. It will show the versions of the Bible you have already loaded. Is the English Study Bible listed first? If it is, look to the right. Is there a "cloud" symbol shown? If there is, you need to click on theat "cloud" symbol to update your Bible. Then close the app and restart it.2 points

Pope Francis: Lord’s Prayer to CHANGE as it implies God ‘induces temptation’
BenJepthah and one other reacted to Thesauron for a topic
A similar expression occurs in Mt 4:1: “Then Jesus was led by the spirit up into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.” Again, Jehovah will not tempt us with evil things. So the NWT Committee has suggested “Then Jesus was led by the spirit up into the wilderness, and there the Devil tempted him” or along those lines, if the sentence becomes unclear in the goal language.2 points -
I loved this talk! I kind of laughed when I saw the title because I knew it was going to help answer a recent prayer. I’ve been weighing options on whether or not I should cut back on work in order to put more focus on spiritual things. Obviously that would be a good thing but as a single mother cutting back on income could be stressful. So this was very timely information for me and I plan to watch it a few more times!2 points

Pope Francis: Lord’s Prayer to CHANGE as it implies God ‘induces temptation’
BenJepthah and one other reacted to Guri for a topic
I think the pope Br. Carlos, I agree with you although I must say that the Catholic Bible doesn’t follow the Greek text anyway Catholic Bible says “lead us not” whilst in Greek there isn’t word “lead”. Its not accurate translation. In Greek text we read: “do not bring us into temptation” (μη εισενεγκης ημας εις πειρασμον).2 points -
The two primary toy manufacturers are Hasbro and Fisher Price. Disney doesn't make toys, but they do trademark toys. So, their toys will likely be made by Hasbro OR Fisher Price. I can't confirm this toy is Disney. I don't see Disney's TM anywhere on it. However, the character strongly suggests the Disney character Pluto and the wizard costume from Fantasia. The 2 to 4 years old in the commercial don't give a hoot if it's a genuine Disney toy or some knockoff. To create a child's toy that leads them into the world of mind reading is disgusting. Later , will they be less likely, or more likely, to be entertained with horoscopes, psychics , guardian angels, their lucky number, fortune tellers , omens , fate , destiny , magic and / or the ouija board ?? We know the ouija board is directly associated with the demons. However, we can remind ourselves it's a GAME, currently produced by Hasbro. So, these games and toys may come to us from Fisher Price or Hasbro, and they are ostensibly 'for entertainment purposes only ', but we know better. Don't we ?2 points

Huh? No. The question regarding this verse came up and was answered via Translation Services. You see, we no longer translate words, but ideas.1 point
-
I absolutely disagree with this idea. Jehovah may allow us to be tempted but never brings us into temptation. Never. James 1:13, which you mentioned, says that Jehovah doesn't try (or tempt) anyone with evil things. Please notice the following explanation from the Slave and see how the highlighted words says exactly word for word the same as those non-English NWT translations and the suggestion by the Pope: The NWT is not a paraphrase translation but as explained before, when the literal rendering obscures the meaning the brothers have resorted to a less literal wording that conveys the right idea. Appendix A1 of the NWT2013 "Principles of Bible Translation" contains a good number of examples where the committee preferred to depart from a literal rendering in favor of a dynamical one.1 point
