  1. I watched this movie with my wife yesterday. I liked the acting and screenplay a lot, and the movie was set up like a classic Agatha Christie with not too many modern additions or artistic freedoms except for a bit of racial diversity. I suppose most of you will know the story from the book or an earlier movie adaptation. The movie was very touching, especially towards the end, to the point that I had tears in my eyes. The story illustrates how one individual with one act can cause so much suffering as to destroy the lives of so many different people. It obviously revolves around the usual topic of seeking revenge for the sake of closure for such a despicable act, from a very human standpoint. In any case, it made me think a lot about how humans despise wicked acts in the depths of their heart, seek justice and ways of dealing out justice, and yet they are not able to really fix and undo the terrible things that have been done. I was very sad after watching the film, but I have to say it made me all the more happy to have the truth and to know Jehovah will bring supreme justice to our lives at some point and even undo all the suffering that has been inflicted.

  2. From new scientist March 24 2018 My favourite pass time IF YOU are one of the countless millions who fret about not getting enough sleep, there is now something else to keep you awake: the possibility that you are not only sleep-deprived, but also dream-deprived. It turns out that dream sleep is one of the biggest casualties of our collective sleep debt. It is more common at the end of a night's slumbers, so tends to be cut short by the need to get up for work or school. And far from being a pleasurable but superfluous state, that dreamy sleep in the morning turns out to have some important functions for your brain (see “How a lack of dreams could be messing with your mind”). This is yet more evidence that Western society pays too little attention to the importance of good sleep. Your doctor probably asks you about diet and exercise, but how often about how well you sleep? Schools persist in opening their doors earlier than strictly necessary despite good evidence that a later start is better for teenage pupils. Paying off sleep debt at the weekend is seen as slothful indulgence rather than part of a healthy lifestyle. We must all wake up to the need for good sleep or risk sleepwalking our way to problems. 3. This video was very reminiscent of Edward Alijan's talk: Have No Anxiety, which is my favorite. So nice to have this on JW.org for all to see. That talk was when I started using a scriptural shotgun method of Bible truths that disprove and help reorient my insane thoughts.

  5. I need to watch this one again. It will be a fight against these feelings, cause you're not doing it in purpose. At this moment we're having a fight against exactly these things. I got a extreme shortage of vitamin d, that causes a lot of issues. Feeling extreme tired, depressions, constant pain in body and muscles etc. At this moment I get supplements and it's getting better. But I know how depressions feel, you feel like you're worthless and no one likes you. If anyone forget to say anything to you at a meeting could even result in thinking that person got something against you. You don't know where these emotions come from and got no grip on it. Now my wife also seems to have a vitamin d shortage. Her symptoms are that she's almost near a nervous breakdown and a constant feeling as if she's dying. In a very short time we seems to get this shortage and all these implications as an effect. Besides of that we've had 16 rough years and been through a lot of stress and pain that didn't help our situation. Now again we have to struggle through this again. And I literally feel that Satan is trying to tear our family apart. These readings tries to help us to focus on the important things again. So I really will watch this one over again. But besides of that I really hope Jehovah will start soon, cause the energy flows away and it's getting pretty hard to hold on. I get mentally tired of this world, and hope the GT starts soon. This will certainly give me some adrenaline and energy to take these last steps to the finish.

    Wonder (Movie)

    >...WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/wonder Saw the Movie today, it was really awesome! By the description you can tell what kind of movie it'll be. It is SUPER Clean by the way, which means you watch without worrying about the context. It is very emotional and makes you tear up many times, so prepare some tissues. From the start of the movie you like this little kid, which he is very smart btw! I won't get into any detail so you can experience it yourself. If you are looking for a new movie to watch I definetely suggest this one! You should watch it, it's really good! P.S. Let me know if anyone watched it, and your opinions on it!

  8. Well, saw the Orthopedic doctor today. There is a slight break. So I got a different brace. One that I can bend the knee when I walk...but for a month I have to use crutches for support. I see the Ortho doc in April. Ha! He mentioned that in time I would start P T. I said yeah, no one’s wrenching my knee now.

  9. Irony of ironies, 2 weeks after I posted this topic I became aware I was allergic, extremely so, to almost everything I was eating and commenting on here. Boo! I now live a life of few food selections but am feeling so much better. And the physical symptoms associated with it has gone away. Took almost a year to get to this point. But I'm reminiscing as I read, oh and drooling

  11. This is one of those scriptures that I cannot express the trueness of it!! So often do I feel so much lighter after a prayer to Jehovah, or a conversation with my boyfriend, or close friend after a meeting. One sister and her husband, once, invited me back after a midweek meeting to discuss something on my mind, and I couldn't express how much that meant to me especially after a late meeting. There's so much love in Jehovah's organisation!

  13. Only by Jehovah's spirit can we even survive a day in this system. Everyone has a unique circumstance especially in Jehovah's eyes. Personally, he is helping me to be as empathetic and understanding as possible living with a mate with health challenges of all sorts physical, emotional, and mental. So we endure only in Jehovah's strength. BTW, listen closely to Brother Herd's Annual Meeting talk... Now these are my words... The Great Tribulation will be a blessing for Jah's servants that are serving him the best they possibly can. So don't give up, stay the course! Rejoice in the hope and based on your expression eagerly look forward to the Great Tribulation because I am, too! Have an awesome day! Your Bro Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

    Lets Talk About Rice

I particularly love rice, and eat it almost daily, since I tend to avoid gluten. But just the other day I read this article that shows that rice contains high levels of arsenic and mercury, since it ‘accumulates toxic metals from fertilizers, pesticides, the soil, the rocks and the water from which it is grown’. http://www.businessinsider.com/gluten-free-diet-arsenic-mercury-2017-3/#-2 Ordinarily I would have been thrilled by this topic, but now I’m going to have to learn about recipes that don’t use rice, because, not surprisingly, of my elevated levels of mercury. The article does, however, say that 'the safest rice of all is white basmati rice from California, India, or Pakistan'. Hope that helps.

  21. I dont dream much Im on so many drugs for different things that its very rare I remember dreaming. I know I am sleep deprived. Sometimes because of pain other times stress sometimes just because. I used to have a lot of nightmares. Im glad I dont dream much any more. That wasnt helped by the christmas tree my dad found under our back mud room. Got rid of that and they ended. Still freaks me out to this day. Happened a long time. I sometimes wonder if that is why I stay up so late at night.1 or 2 am sometimes. Who knows. I sure dont.

  22. Friday, March 23 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good word cheers it up.—Prov. 12:25. Good communication, sharing your feelings with a trusted confidant, can help you cope with anxiety. A marriage mate, a close friend, or a congregation elder may be able to help you to put your anxiety into perspective. Frank and honest communication can do much to help you to understand and deal with your concerns. The Bible tells us: “Plans fail when there is no consultation, but there is accomplishment through many advisers.” (Prov. 15:22) Jehovah also helps Christians to deal with anxieties by means of weekly congregation meetings. There you can associate with fellow believers who are concerned about you and who want to encourage one another. (Heb. 10:24, 25) Such “an interchange of encouragement” will help to replenish your spiritual resources and make it easier for you to deal with any anxiety.—Rom. 1:12. w16.12 3:17, 18

  27. I'm pretty sure I dream because I've read that we ALL do... we just don't remember them. I RARELY remember my dreams. And they are usually the lucid type if I do remember; I watch them like they're a movie and I always know it's a dream. I'm not usually in my dreams at all. That probably means something ominous...

  30. I do believe the plastics are endocrine disruptors. Sure, they took Bisphenol A out of a lot of stuff.. but BPB, BPC, BPD, etc can be just as bad. I still often end up using some bottled water despite having a countertop filter (which is plastic), because I don't always remember to refill it and it isn't convenient for when in bed or to fit in a backpack on the go. I'm also sick of spitting pieces of plastic out of cheap salmon filets... Here's hoping that we can figure out how to clean it up and break it down within 100 years. 32. There was a brother who gave Rutherford $5,000 and since Rutherford knew that most of the Board of Directors would not approve the finance of the The Finished Mystery book, Rutherford use that money for it. This brother was known as George Butterfiield. Not only Butterfield did this, he gave brother Alex McMillan $10,000 to reopen Bethel in Brooklyn New York too. 1975 Yearbook 120-121. I might add that $15,000 is valued at $318,781.03 today. It is amazing how Jehovah can used people to accomplish his will.

    George Butterfield

Br. Bob, I think Dusty was using 1917 as the reference date. That was the publishing date of the Finished Mystery. The need for the money would have been at least a year earlier. I used 1917 and came up with an equivalent of 319,000 dollars. All of these calculator apps are approximate. Still a very large amount of money to donate. It is interesting that He came to Brooklyn on a train from Texas alone (no bodyguard) carrying all that money in a 'hidden money-belt' under his shirt. He said that he hadn't got any sleep for the whole journey. Brave as well as rich, Br. Butterfield had a lot of faith and trust in Jehovah's protection.

  35. That talk was incredible. Really good points made about self worth and about being peaceable. I liked how he brought out that Paul didn’t keep his confrontation with Peter private. Peter could’ve held a grudge against Paul for writing about it but he gained the proper point of view. I found it interesting when he mentioned that feelings of worthlessness are really Satan’s projections of his situation. He can’t benefit from the ransom, he has no prospect of everlasting life, he can never enjoy Jehovah’s friendship and love. He wants us to feel the same way as him. That was powerful. Never thought about it that way before. I’ve heard talks from Brother Aljian before and his way of explaining of things is simple and reaches the heart. I heard him at a CA once and you could hear a pin drop in that auditorium. Everyone was really glued to the talk. His way of speaking reminds me of a local brother who gives talks in a similar manner and his brother does as well. Their speaking styles are very similar and enjoyable.

  36. Since you provided the reference to the 1975 yearbook, I had to look it up. What an interesting read! It's not often that I bother to read anything in older yearbooks. I was born in '75, so I don't have too much invested in that year, lol. It did mention that George Butterfield was "a person of considerable means". According to my inflation calculator here, $10,000 in 1920 equals $130,435.98 in 2018. A generous amount indeed, and it was certainly put to good use.

  38. From new scientist magazine IT'S not every day that an aerospace engineer raises new questions about bird flight. But Abdessattar Abdelkefi and his team at New Mexico State University did just that while trying to devise better drones. Many large soaring birds like the albatross have wings that are white underneath and black on top. Previous explanations focused on camouflage, says Graham Martin at the University of Birmingham, UK. But does that colouring really boost endurance in flight? Most soaring needs no flapping of wings; instead, the bird exploits air currents to glide. Abdelkefi's team discovered that a wing's black upper surface absorbs sunlight very efficiently, causing it to be around 10°C warmer than the lower surface. That effectively lowers air pressure on the upper surface, lowering drag and generating extra lift (Journal of Thermal Biology, doi.org/f96ggw). Svana Rogalla at the University of Ghent, Belgium, says thermography has proved that the dark upper wing gets hotter in sunlight, but it is too early to pin down its effect on drag. The impact of colour on flight could be a further inducement for birds to make costly melanin pigment to darken feathers, she says. The team hopes the findings will help them design more efficient and durable drones for use at sea. This article appeared in print under the headline "Albatross teaches drones new tricks"

  44. I think this is interesting and potentially significant. I also think there's a lot more to come on this. I may be going out on a limb here but I personally believe Russia is the "King of the North". Not sure if that's the general consensus currently, but I've been of this opinion for some time and especially so in light of recent developments regarding our freedom of worship there (or lack of it). I'm particularly interested in Daniel's prophecy, chapter 11, verses 44 & 45 in particular. I can't help feel that what Russia has done by outlawing JW's in that country shows he has 'planted his royal tent between the grand sea (the general population) and the holy mountain of decoration (Jehovah's organisation)' effectively preventing anyone from attaching themselves to Jehovah's organisation in that country. He appears to have gone out in a 'great rage to annihilate and devote many to destruction'. The last part of verse 45 says 'he will come all the way to his end, and there will be no helper for him'. If this is indeed the case, then the first verse of chapter 12 helps us to appreciate where we are in the stream of time, as it says: 'during that time Michael will stand up...in behalf of your people'. That being the case, the Great Tribulation may be upon us imminently! I'll definitely be watching this closely.
